IMHO the time could be shortened to two hours and the URL signatures allowed as long as they're within bitcointalk.org, what do you think?

Yeah, there is lots to read in here so I don't mind doing that while I wait to be able to post in the other forums.

I don't understand, people are talking about my bitcoin based services in various threads on this site, but I can only post in the newbie section.  What possible contributions can I make to the site if I can only post in the newbie section?  How can I gain reputation, when all I can do it talk to other newbies?  Very strange.

I'm not sure I would describe it as "hard". The hard part is sorting through the remarkable number of posts.

The alternative, being able to quickly register and post, means easy forum spamming, scamming, trolling, Google bombing, defaming, virus/malware links. Get banned, re-register and repeat. At least this way blog spammers will go elsewhere, while new users have a few hours to search and see if their question was already answered (which it probably was).

But this is ridiculous. I agree with the OP. I read these forums randomly all the time, and have for WEEKS. Yet I still can't post. I've posted in the whitelist thread and apparently didn't have enough reason.

So i suppose I commence with the BS post?

Only takes 5 posts and a few hours to get out of here anyway.

There is also a way to get white-listed if you have enough reason...

In your case the above is the right choice, tho, inthe time it would take to be whitelisted you'll graduate.
