Let me make it clear for you. Merit will be awarded to your posts if they are having some substantial content and not a generic post which beats around the bush.

Or posts that attack someone you dislike.

So anyway, I applied as a merit source :)

Thank You for clarification, can you please let us know how we will get merit in this forum.
Let me make it clear for you. Merit will be awarded to your posts if they are having some substantial content and not a generic post which beats around the bush. So expect a very low earning of merits if you are determined to spam the forum and get paid from signature campaigns, though we have had many users who have earned a lot of merits even when wearing a signature.

Dont hope for merits to come, because they are awarded by merit sources who are also humans and have voluntarily entered this post or have received merits from other users. Just post normally and know that there is no hard and fast rule for getting merits.

Hello friends I'm just a newbie here and I want to ask about when I will be able to add my signature to my bitcointalk account? Because I cannot see the signature box on my account.

We've got a long way to go friend - have a look around the various boards on this site and you will see help subjects at the top of the page.  Some are helpful for beginners, others for those wanting tec advise and so on.  You should be able to find the relevant information fairly quickly.

can you please let us know how we will get merit in this forum.
First, this question has been asked by dozens or even hundreds of times by other users before you and second you are an old user who registered an account on June 17, 2018 and I am sure you should already understand how you will get merit in the forum.

I am not very sure about the question you asked, but I have to think a little positively and will consider that question as a reason that you have difficulty getting services. If that is true, then you should start everything from these two thread before starting the journey in the forum. Before you try to get merit from other users in a post or thread that you create later, you must know in advance what a merit system is. Please read this thread: Merit & new rank requirements and if that still confuses you, then next you have to read this thread which is equipped with answers that are easy for you to understand. FAQ: Everything you need to know about forum 'activity, account ranks and merit.

From all the comments above man can be very confused when he can have signature and post pictures.
Let me get this straight.

Newbie - no signature, cannot post pictures.
Jr. Member - you have signature (just text) and you can embed pictures into posts. Need 1 merit.
Member (need 10 merit) = Copper Member (paid membership) - fully functional signature(number of characters limit) , less restrictions in posting, PMs,searching etc.

Hope this is clear now.

Stay here for a while, read a lot, share information and your ideas and you'll eventually figure things out. (don't forget to read the unofficial forum rules*) If you just aim to get a signature it usually doesn't end well.

There are two ways to add signature.
  • At first you can upgrade your account to copper member which will be equal to member rank user. In this way, you have to spend some btc/money. In simple word, this process have some cost.
  • The sceond method is very simple and there is no cost to do that. You have to active in this forum and must make quality content to help others .By this way, you will get merit from others who will like/love your content. Also your profile will have activity no which is also required beside merits to rank up your account. According to rules, you will be ranked up to Jr. member or upper ranked member's catagory for achieving merits + activity no and you will be able to add signature.

In addition to this. It is also important to know what are the restrictions when you are still a newbie.

Quote from: theymos
Due to excessive garbage-posting, you now need 1 merit to be a Jr Member. All existing Jr Members who didn't meet the requirement were demoted. Also, newbies can no longer set any signature or personal text.

Note that this does not affect:
 - PM rate-limiting, which is based purely on activity & whitelisted status.
 - "You must wait ___ seconds...", which is based purely on activity & whitelisted status.

But it does affect:
 - Voting in polls
 - Patroller jurisdiction
 - The "ignore newbie PMs" option.
 - "The body is omitted from this email because the sender is a newbie."
 - BBCode limits
 - Reduced-accuracy link filtering
 - Board restrictions

Many of these limitations can be eliminated with a copper membership. In particular, you can set a signature at Member level if you wear a copper membership.

In a nutshell. You need to create better post which you think that can add up for the betterment of the forum. Post naturally because you do not want to end up being a merit hunter right?. After receiving at least 1 merit, you can now wear your signature.

Read the forum rules btw. I hope this answers your question.

Until you are a member [I hope I am right about the rank], I do not think you will be able to wear any signature. There are few restrictions for a brandnew account and wearing signature is one of them AFAIK.
It's Jr member. For Jr member rank, people can add signature but in Jr member there will be no link. From member and above, link can be used. If anyone in need of signature, they can buy copper membership too.

Hello! Welcome to the Bitcoin forum.

You should understand first this rank up requirements.
In addition to activity, everyone now has a merit score, and you need both a certain activity level and a certain merit score in order to reach higher member ranks. The required scores are:

RankRequired activityRequired merit
Brand new00
Newbie10
Jr Member301
Member6010
Full Member120100
Sr. Member240250
Hero Member480500
LegendaryRandom in the range 775-10301000

Or purchase copper membership to bypass Jr. member rank and become a Member rank, you can able to wear signature and post images.

AFAIK, newbie still can use signature member but he/she must upgrade to Copper Member status for their account. But no styling, just text and link signature.
