But the activity for the account is low so its not hard to spot scammer right?
Well yes, but if it was high they could be used for scamming.

it could also be used for sig ads.. but yeah, that kind of stuff compromises the community here. and it seems like bitcointalks can't do anything, short of buying the account and disabling it.
I own the account so I should be allowed to sell it, though that doesn't make it right.

well i guess that would be speculative at this point since there are no services that offer payment for existing posts..... only for new posts.

it's insane thinking about all the things that can be monetized. i signed up last week and i was wondering if anyone was selling their accounts, especially since you can make money by posting ads in your signature.

i'd rather let my account go inactive than sell it for $20 anyways.

Exactly. People want to buy accounts with trust, instead of earning it themselves.

The amount of newbies I seen basing reputation on post count, trust & date registered is unbelievable. I bet most users with early registration dates have been bought.

I'm with Lethn, I'd never sell my account out cheaply. I suspect most "veterans" feel similarly.

Still weird though. Smiley

I can see how this ruins the community in multiple ways.

This is just creating more possible scams.

What's wrong with selling accounts, I have seen people selling world of warcraft account for like few thousands...

Selling these accounts are different. It encourages scammers. The people who normally want to purchase these accounts want them for their date/trust because they think people will trust them more.

I can't believe he's actually trying to sell for $25. Aren't they worth $0 because you can just register and work yourself up.

but they are trying to convey peoples that these old accounts has some worth but its not true

Sadly some people fall for it. He's already sold some at this forum over at the digital goods section.
