Go here and find it - https://bitcointa.lk/

What is that site?  How do you have so many posts and users?   The "General" forum topic list doesn't match this one, so it doesn't look like you're cloning this forum.  Right?

-B-

Bitcointa.lk was cloning this forum, but due to technical issues, it stopped some months ago. It's not a reliable source right now.

The bitcointa.lk site is created to clone bitcointalk by cedivad, and he noticed the problem already but didn't have time to deal with it yet.

Yes I meant Bytemaster. And no his name being similar isn't the reason for my defending the actions, the fact he is behind bitshares and all the subsequent replies were about bitshares is. I had to read some about bitshares (I had no clue what it was) to find this out, and that's why I said byteshares.

Someone bumped the thread with a quote and reply to byteshares about bitshares (which is off topic, alt currencies). Easy to assume byteshares post was a part of that if the dates weren't checked. I restored that post. None of Satoshi's posts were deleted.

Great  Smiley    https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/scalability-and-transaction-rate-532

However, there is no one named 'byteshares' the poster is 'Bytemaster'? It sounds like in the response above you are justifying deleting it because 'byteshares' sounds like 'Bitshares' but the poster is Bytemaster and the words Bytemaster and BitShares are not as easily confused, but thanks I'm glad it's been restored.

Edit: Although I see Bytemaster does have BitShares in his title thing (Bytemaster is the main founder of BitShares) , so maybe that caused the confusion.

I hope that a Mod/Admin could explain the situation as soon as possible. Also to avoid any mistake-created fud.

Please mods, come out and tell us what happened so that everyone could have a clear vision of the fact.

Thanks.

Lol. 60% sure this was BadBear's work.

I'm guessing he's written a script which goes through the entire forum to find low value posts like "^This" and "I agree 100%," which in the current time, would be sig-spam without a doubt.

I don't understand the reason why anyone even bothers deleting posts from threads that old. Undecided

It's ok to moderate the forums and delete annoying stuff, but this is clearly too much. It distorts history. If something has to be removed it should be immediate (within days), all stuff that isn't deleted within a short timespan should be considered proven to be unnecessary to delete.

They aren't censoring or deleting satoshi's old threads or posts but deleting pointless necrobumps which is against the forum rules.

They deleted a post from 2010 that wasn't pointless necrobump or against the forum rules.

Who the fuck thinks that has the right to delete posts addressing to satoshi and WHY? What will be the next step? to delete posts from satoshi himself? They could simply delete any 2014 pointless/unrelated post and lock those threads.

No they are not. Why would they do that anyway?

Doubt it's anything nefarious though it might be a good idea to lock some of the important satoshi threads to prevent trolling from btc fudders. Seems to be an influx of them nowadays Sad

Reading the above thread, I couldn't help feeling I'd somehow found my way to the David Icke forums. I especially liked this post:

Comedy gold....

I'm sure this deletion was a mistake by a mod cleaning up 2014 posts in the same thread and shall soon be rectified. Let's wait and see.

Rule #1 of the moderator's handbook, is do not touch Satoshi's posts. I doubt anything was removed intentionally, although I don't know what post you are talking about in particular.

BTCTalk has probably the best staff on the internet. They never censor anything and generally leave everything alone to allow growth. Satoshi is the main creator and helped everyone and everything evolve. There is no reason for them to censor anything from Satoshi. Satoshi has documented in the original Bitcoin whitepaper along with his posts some critical info that needs to be preserved and protected. Thanks to the staff for their time effort and attitude.

If it was an accident or the moderator was just trying to be helpful and made a mistake, can it be undone?

Yep, anything can be undone. However if something like that was to accidentally happen, a moderator would normally bring it to attention, say, hey I accidentally did this, can someone restore the post? And it would be done with. I still dont know what it was that was removed though.
He says it was from this thread. He pointed to a topic on bitsharestalk that was posted by username "bytemaster" on that forum. There is a user with a "u" # of 611 on bitcointalk with the same username which was created on July 27,2014. There was a post by satoshi that quoted the same username on July 29, 2010. The post quoted in the OP was likely a response to satoshi (IMO).

If you are able to search by deleted posts by usernames I would suggest searching deleted posts of bytemaster
