Digging this thread up because I'm now selling the .IO version, which is currently a Featured Domain Auction at Flippa.com. Slated to end in ~17 days.

Bid or watch the auction's progress here: https://flippa.com/5913191-com-sold-for-250k-low-reserve-premium-io-keyword-domain

A Great Time to Start Something!
You guys simply don't understand the billion dollar domain name industry...

110,000 people PER MONTH are typing in "Bitcoin Wallet" in to Google alone, not to mention how many people type in "BitcoinWallet.com" directly in their address bar. The current Pay-Per-Click suggested bid for one click is $1.60 and the competition is picking up, fast.

It is very difficult to have an intelligent conversation about Bitcoin without mentioning "Bitcoin Wallet".

I predicted this exactly, many months ago actually.

With nearly a decade of experience and more than $100 million worth of media as consultant, broker, developer, or licensor, I am fully qualified to tell you that $250k was not "expensive" but rather a very savvy investment to gain a timeless and global competitive advantage in the marketplace.

The sale is real.

In the next few weeks you will see media publications writing stories about this sale.

Every single "Bitcoin Wallet" company on the planet is competing with their website title tags, H1/h2 headers, meta data, and search marketing details (SEO/SEM) for the generic branding "Bitcoin Wallet". That is an undeniable and absolute FACT.

Here is some free education for you guys. And so, point being, the domain name was actually sold too cheap.

It's the "My" that is costing you over $246k, no joking there. It is funny what one little letter or word does to value, like a decimal place or 10 Wink

For example...

sex.com $XX million
mysex.com $X,XXX thousand

One-word domains and two-word domains are very different in market price. Wink

I can see so many people making their replies here and trying to sell their domains.
Why don't you make a new thread in auction or digital goods? Smiley

Wow!  I find it hard to imagine that will pay off.  Why not just invest the $250,000 in bitcoin instead?

Because most finance entrepreneurs don't give a flying fuck about Bitcion.  They're just trying to make money off the latest fad.  Therefor their stupidity kicks in, and they treat this like any other startup.  Even if that means blowing $250k on a domain name.  Their trust is in the "Business Plan" and their own ability to grow a business.  Bitcoin is just a tool for most of them.  No awareness of investing in Bitcoin instead, and sitting on 200 million in 10 years.   To them the thought of that happening is absurd.

Why you mad bro?

Let's get some facts straight. This domain wasn't purchased for giggles. The dreaded "finance entrepreneur" likely purchased this to build a killer wallet for us all. How could anyone argue that this is bad? Sure, the person dishing out the $$$ probably doesn't understand Bitcoin fundamentals like some of us do, nor will they be spending sleepless nights in front of a screen coding the app, but thats not their job.

How exactly do you expect Bitcoin to reach these monumental heights you speak of, if no one builds it?

It sounds like you already think long-term, big picture, about the price of bitcoin. Try applying that same logic to the infrastructure  Wink

Infrastructure is important. There are some great coders here, and they will be even greater if they step away from their computer and go outside. Watch and talk with people.

Bet you 100 BTC that site will end up sucking and out of business within 2 years.
Of course.  After all, their administrators make very dumb business decisions like spending insane amounts of money for dumb domain names.

Probably the investor has so much money that he invests in a lot of different projects. Its cold diversification, and in investing in multiple projects probably a few of them take off, but if so the investor is happy.

That's a crazily expensive investment for a domain that's so general if you're trying to start a BTC wallet business.

I can't see it paying off, but who knows...
