I'm a bit skeptical about much profit remaining in running an A3.  If you look at the other coin-space taken over by ASICS, the event marks a significant tightening of supply vs demand.

Might be better to move to mining a fresher coin and buy where ASICS invade rather than buy a device with a limited future.

Can't help but think it is 4 a3's with just one shown lol

https://halongmining.com/shop/dragonmint-b52-blake2b-miner/

Ah I wouldn't even think about them

over priced and no communication company

By the way

Love your reviews (Good Job)  Grin

Also they declared Hashrate: 3.83TH/s
But I see 3.37 GH/s on the picture. 1 TH = 1000 GH/s

And they are trying to sell such peace of shit for $5549?
I wounder if they could earn $0,5 per day on it. If they were mining, not selling ASICs

i wonder what's the current ROI for an A3.  Thinking about getting my hands on some

As of right this second, a couple months - but I'm pretty sure Bitmain has some being shipped, and another batch due by the end of the month.
Wasn't there someone else (Obelisk perhaps?) that announced a SIA miner a few months back but has yet to deliver?

The price of sia has fallen over 50% in the last month. I don’t see an end in sight either.

Do ASICS usually increase the price of the coin? I would think it would drive prices even farther down

The price of pretty much ALL Cryptocoins has dropped 50% or more from the peak around mid-January.

ASIC have ZERO effect on price - it's PRICE that affects profitability and the profitability that affects the potential for an ASIC to be sold at a profit for it's maker.

Not exactly. Siacoin dumped 10 times from january prices because of ASICs

Clueless!

Looks like someone got an early shipment of Halongs. 450 or so of them are live on this address, all with hashrates around 4TH or so. Can't imagine it's any other miner. Here it comes...

https://siamining.com/stats

That's insane, one account with 20% of global hash rate.

That’s Halong Mining doing QC...they have not shipped yet

Got to love that QC control (secret version) probably call it 'pre-QC' they were likely doing the last 3 months Smiley IMHO

I know for the BTC miners ..it is pretty much a wash...for what they paid in Nov 2017 for them, compared to just getting Bitmain units also shipping this month.
Then again BTC price was high, back in Nov 2017, WTF, so maybe it all will work out for them also...who knows?

at the BTC miner end...not so sure this SiaCoin Halong miner will last very long...I see it like the D3 from Bitmain...very first in line, you are probably OK on ROI...the rest

after 1st group..iffy as hell

ASICs at first dumping prices down  as coin supply to the market increased dramatically.
Then situation  can stabilize with  dramatically difficulty increasing. Or not.
Noone knows because siacoin is not the bitcoin. Do such many  peoply want to buy it?
I doubt if this is true.

All coins are down right now. BTC is around $8k at the moment.

And no, ASICs don't inherently increase the price of a coin, the added capability of the network makes it more appealing to investors and for actual use. For finite coins, as the difficulty increases (which ASICs definitely contribute to) and the payouts per block decrease the coin usually ends up worth more, but SIA is an infinite coin, so that math doesn't really apply either. I personally think it will get as high as 5c, even 10c, in the not-too-distant future, but I also think mining it on an A3 is not going to be worth the electricity by the end of the year...

Why would an added capability of the network be more appealing to investors and actual use?  What's the rationale behind that.

So this algo is dead  due to huge mining power.

and what is going to happen with

https://halongmining.com/shop/dragonmint-b29-blake256-miner/

blake/decred   the miner above is 2.1th  the network is 1420th

so 700 of these will  be = to the network.

What is going to happen to all other gpu algos?

are we to see asics for every coin's algo?

When miner makers see how few of these "kill the network" level miners actually sell, they'll back off on them.

Probably.

Depends on if they use old enough tech (28nm or older) to keep the costs down to the point that even 1000 miners sold = make money.

At the risk of sounding like Bill Gates saying that 640k memory is all you will ever need (fake quote by the way)

Actually, it was a real quote - but incomplete and taken out of context and your version of the quote is off a bit.

Are these Halong miners?

https://siamining.com/addresses/25865daf640696361b432bd517b812270d8459af48f13876108354ee7e028e0e15c13ab5030c

Heaven help us Sia miners....

we are almost at .01 and the big sharks have joined the pool.

Looks like they may be having some issues with them though or just initial testing.

Looks like Halong B52 testing.  Only kamikazes flying (buying) B52s with all the other hardware being deployed on the network.    A3 SC reward gonna be smashed down to 200-300sc per day by end of April. If SiaCoin price stays in $0.008-$0.018 range, then that is estimated $5-$6/day.  Poor bastards that pre-ordered Obelisk SC didnt even have a chance.

Wild west man....  Wild west.

Mining aside, I think its idiotic to fund a glorified kickstarter for technology that rapidly evolves, especially when the product has a 9 month lead time.

Correct, pre orders should not be more than 1 month long, i am really upset for those poor souls who paid 9+ months in advance for a miner which is probably obsolete on arrival
