not really a bitmain fan but i think  that they didnt mine as hard as everyone assumed here, because there is a thing called network hashrate, which didnt really increase before they delivered, it was around 25-35th for last month, i did notice that there was a spike of network hashrate for 1 hour and it became 67th but it was 1 hour and it was around  4-10 september period and i assumed they did some kind of test for all units, and that was it. if they did mine they kept it low, really low.

i still pissed on bitmain because of quantity they sold, i ordered D3 in 16 august so it will arrive to me in november and i probably wont get any ROI but it's their business and they dont have to care about us, if i were in their place i would be done same thing, even with withholding mining.

A bit offtopic:
do you guys know how to install that darn BitmainMinerTool.
I tried to install it, downloaded netframework 4.5.
Retried to install and I got to a screen where the only option was "cancel".

Hello !

Someone tell me that the Antminer D3 (and also the L3+) need a sd or micro sd card to work, is that right ?

Thank you

If they take time to clean them, there is no way to know if they have been previously mined. Truth be told.....7nm technology is in production. Samsung intends to ramp up chip production throughout 2018. Granted, ASIC miners are probably not extremely high on the distribution priority list, but it's coming within the next 12-24 months to Bitmain. This is why they are purging their current inventory. ASAP they will mine the 7nm and once they skim the cream off the top, we'll be fighting online to buy their scraps. Rinse repeat.

7nm is not coming to asics next year, or maybe at all. Spreading information like this helps noone since it is completely unfounded.

Also, bitmain does burn-in tests on its machines. They run them for around 72 hours on average. I have seen the facility where this happens. It is not some huge datacenter with these things running for months on end before sales, as so many people like to fantasize about.

"I, however, doubt that they put all the miners in circulation prior to shipping them out. The difficulty did spike but not as much as it should have if all the miners were on the network."

Great point.....unless......they are being replaced by more dense chipsets.

Clean or dirty we will never really know if they are mined to death prior to shipping, if they are as greedy as what everybody says, then why wouldn't they?

If 'greed' is defined by being in business to make money, then there is plenty of 'greed' to go around.

M
mdude, greed is a human condition. Deception is an ethical disease. "If" Bitmain is mining the hardware and then selling it as new batches, that's deception. Personally I have delayed my plans to expand my mining operations. Based on all the corruption and deception in the marketplace currently, I see a huge train wreck coming. There will absolutely be a washout in the mining community. All the signs are in place. For what it's worth, I recommend waiting until the newest batch of freshly minted miners pukes out and the 7nm tech becomes available.

I just looked over the S9 and D9 pages.  I don't see anything on there indicating this is new, unused equipment.  "New batch available" doesn't mean it's a "new batch" of new, unused equipment.  Just that a new "batch" is available.

Granted, they also don't say it's used equipment.

Maybe you all should stop blaming Bitmain and also stop bitching.

We get it you are the mighty kings, all able to build a miner from GPU. Now the evil evil chinese company is producing and selling a product and they don't stop after 1 batch for a year that you all can make BILLIONS of dollars with them.

I forgot it was all soooo much more profitable when the asics have not been there. Right because payouts have been 100$ plus a day since the beginning of BTC, LTC and DASH and just because of the L3+ and D3's of the world that now changes  Cheesy.

Gimme a break!   Stop buying the machines or grow up and do your calculations before you buy. Or maybe you all should get a real job and make your money while actually working  Roll Eyes

Now don't piss me off cause I can start swearing you for 5 minutes continuously without repeating myself....

I forgot what the specific term was but bitmain should release as many batches as it wants WITH numbers that don't fucking heavily influence the price, the market or the difficulty.
It's all about putting a god damn brake on the greed but it seems that's not the case here....It has nothing to do with GPU or ASIC or whatever new invention will come.

Billions of $ ?!? If only that would be the case...

Why are you presuming that the majority of us doesn't have a real job or 2 or even 3? Are you using yourself as a standard of comparison?

While we're growing up maybe you can pull your head out of your ass and try to see a bigger perspective about flooding a market / a coin / an algorithm and so on.

I don't even know where to start  Cheesy Maybe I should pull my head out of my arse. I should probably also shut down my miners that you can earn more. Because I am all for decentralisation and whatever I do, its NEVER for the money and if I can make less that YOU guys can earn more for a day it's all worth it Roll Eyes.

Whats wrong with you?

If you need to work 2 or even 3 jobs that sucks and believe me you got my full petty.   But also if that is the case you are probably not going to buy a miner because you want to "grow a coin" just for fun and games.
You would also not be able to pay for such a machine without big restraints in a different area of your cash flow

You bought a miner because you were drawn to the money and now you feel threatened that the world is just as greedy as you? (and everyone here bought a miner because they want to earn money without actually working)

For fuck sake in what kind of world do you all live in?  Do you cry as much as here when Apple is pumping out 1000Dollar iPhones?

Wake up, people buy that shit. We had a D3 sale for 10k if I am not mistaken.  MONEY RULES THE WORLD and to think anyone gives a single shit about some wannabe home miners with 1 or 2 miners should seriously get on some meds....

Maybe you all are so deep down in reading source codes of blockchains and coins you completely missed, that the fucking WORLD runs on capitalism and the big corps, govs and banks already found this industry.

Socialism does not work; never has, never will!   And there will come a day where all the little kids that came out recently will realise it's not worth it. They will sell the miners they have, they will not buy a new one and Bitmain cant unload as many units.

And guess what will happen next?  A whole new generation of newbies comes on board and will push it further.  And the same thing will happen to ever other shitcoin out there. As long as you can make money people will invest in it. Especially if you can earn 24h with very limited time spend on the managing.

It's actually way worse than all that. Not only did they take full advantage of their monopoly on the ASIC market through selling the servers, They mined the everloving shit out of them before releasing them for sale. That guy Cryptocrane did a video of unpacking his D3 and the bastard had the dust from the mining farm all over it still!! They didn't even bother to clean it off. They ran the 16nm technology while the profits were fat and then dumped them all over the street. I'm sure they will be mining 7nm tech as soon as they can and we won't be able to buy it until they're done milking the teet.

I'm all with you here. Not nice, but also not unheard of. We suspect them from mining them and if we don't like that we could decide not to buy. We do anyways.

I, however, doubt that they put all the miners in circulation prior to shipping them out. The difficulty did spike but not as much as it should have if all the miners were on the network.

Probably the most honest thing I read on that last page  Cheesy

Please go ahead and crush me but I support every word I said and yes I am mining for profits and I will not cry about it.

While there isn't definitive proof of that -- their facilities could be absolutely filthy, for all we know, after all, it IS China we're talking about -- they are only interested in it for the $$$, so that's entirely possible.

That said ...... I'd estimate at least 75% of the people who ordered D3s for themselves aren't in it for the benefit of the X11 blockchain.

There is plenty of "greed" to go around.  After all, that's why miners mine.

M

I'm skeptical that they are assembling hardware in such a dusty environment. The dust was very visible on the intake side fan. Give it a look. I have no doubt that these miners are arriving with many hours of hashing on them.

I don't always agree with you Ben but on this I can vouch you are correct, and they most certainly mined the poop out of these before sending them. I had one miner with the dust as well but unlike Crane I have only a couple samples to derive this from..but it was enough.
