Wasn't Bitmain's bulk discount like 1% for orders of 500? Or have they updated that policy now we're in a slump?

You don't think they have resellers that buy from them in bulk? Official or not, those relationships most likely exist. That's just good business.

Yeah, I'm sure if you emailed them and said you wanted to buy like 2000 miners ASAP, they would be happy to work with you.  The guy is right that there are no official resellers, but pretty much any business out there offers bulk discounts, especially when they aren't selling out their current stock.

MyRig has had a long relationship with Bitmain. Dates back to when myrig was bitmain warranty.

But bitmain does not call them a reseller.

If you read the email and everything on the Bitmain site you will notice they DO NOT have ANY official resellers.

The only official way to buy their products is via the website.

My sources have a bitmain release in Oct at best.

So  we have

the S-9 long time king  of sha-256 known to break a lot. mines at about .105 watts a gh and 14th

the t-1  only makes its 0.093 watt per gh spec at under clock to 14.5th and mines on only 4 pools due to pool ops refusing to adopt new tech.

the avalon 841 does under 0.099 watt per gh and mines at all pools  but has a heat intake issue you may need rooms to be  at 30c/ 85f or less.

If the bitmain gear does come in Oct-Nov I wonder how well it will mine .  I hear rumors of  20th to 21th and  1350 to 1400 watts

Zero confirmation on this gear. Just some emails from people.

BTW I also hear rumors of other gear due in Dec and Jan

Right, but if an *unauthorized* seller jumped the gun, he could easily get blacklisted and never be able to purchase from them again.

Without finding someone else's name to put on the account, I mean.

Think you're right and it's also likely that the reseller posts are indeed scams. No Bitmain reseller would risk their relationship by doing something stupid like this.

Seems more like damage control from Bitmain.  I'm sure they want to get rid of their S9 and other lower efficiency sha256 miners without having to worry about potential buyers being scared off by the coming wave of difficulty increases.  They also don't want to be viewed as giving preferential treatment of promising large orders to insiders while limiting others to a single unit per order.

I think by the end of the year many of us will be mining with S11 Antminers.  We'll see how accurate that belief is soon.

Dear subscriber,
We are writing to inform you that we have received reports that some fraudulent sellers or scammers are trying to sell next-generation models of Bitmain’s Antminers, such as Antminer S10 or S11, none of which exist yet. The latest Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash miner from Bitmain continues to be the Antminer S9, which can be purchased on www.bitmain.com
We sell miners only on www.bitmain.com We do not have any physical location, in China or abroad, where you can purchase Bitmain’s miners. There is no other way to purchase Bitmain's products from us.
If the option to buy a product that is listed on the website is not there, the product is sold out and there will likely be another batch of that product soon.
If we know the date or time for the next batch releases of any product, we announce it on our Facebook page (facebook.com/Bitmain) or Twitter account (twitter.com/Bitmaintech).
The price of a batch is usually only available when the batch is released.
We wish you all a happy mining experience with Bitmain’s products.
Regards,
The Bitmain team

As for :
S-9
T-1
avalon 841

all three have issues.

but  I did decide to keep the 5x T1's sent to me for testing/demo.
I like -ck's firmware updates  and don't mind the pool limitations.

My avalon comes today  I will see how cool I can keep it.
It appears that I won't be able to have a lot of them as 30c or 86f is not possible to do in the main solar array loft during the summer.

and s-9's break a lot.

Canaan also doesn't build bottom-dollar gear and sell for 400% markup whenever it's convenient. By "bottom dollar" I mean built as cheaply as possible, spec'd too high for reliable long-term use and shipped with a mediocre warranty.

What about the fact that the Avalon 6 units never worked in spec and overheated in 70f temps? They sunk my last datacenter with their defective product. They swept all those problems under the rug because they were about to be bought out in that failed deal a while back.

The Avalon 841 seems to have a similar problem after they sneakily changed the specs from 40c to 30c without telling anyone.

So I dont think your argument about the quality of Canaan gear is 100% accurate. I have managed thousands and thousands of Avalon miners so I am speaking from first hand experience.

So this is why most of my chinese friends are starting to sell their S9s even though BTC is going up...........I doubt the validity of these claims though. Its probably something like 18TH@1400W

Bitmain is entirely self-serving. Sure they make hardware available to the masses, but they're in direct competition with their own customers and have little qualm about openly ripping off the entire world. The whole Cash shenanigan didn't help matters at all.

F3 will be an ASIC for ETH. (If it is real)

E3 > F3

Let's hope Halong or Avalon/Canaan has something to counter these new hardware. Otherwise we're fucked.

So if this was Avalon releasing a new miner it would be all hunky dory but because its bitmain putting out better hardware its a bad thing?

This ignorant line of thinking has spread to most of bitcointalk and it really needs to be addressed. People just coming here to learn hear nothing but political attacks and have no way to discern facts from uneducated opinions :/

Avalon and Halong didn't fork bitcoin and claim that their fork (like bcash) is the real one.

Bitmain did.

Also I don't remember those companies making alliances with scammers and fraudsters like Bitmain does. (Roger Ver, Craig Wright) They invite these retards to every crypto related (mostly bcash related) conference

Tldr, bitmain is toxic and I don't give 2 fucks if they disappear today.

Anyone who says they're doing it with BM1387 is lying outright. That'd be operating the chips at roughly 1GHz, which they're probably capable of doing but not at 0.05J/GH - probably more like 0.12J/GH to push that speed and definitely not with air cooling.

This is another add

https://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?depth=1&hl=en&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=auto&sp=nmt4&tl=en&u=http://bitmainvtl.ru/antminer-s11-27-th-s/&xid=17259,15700023,15700124,15700149,15700168,15700173,15700186,15700201&usg=ALkJrhhAa7_iaS3tNrJe0xt9sUQF9sefhw

This one says 27 TH/s and 10nm with 189 chips.  Same number of chips as the S9 which makes me question it.

The TH is inline with the claims of double the hash-rate on the Alibaba.  Same 10nm as Alibaba.  Calculated efficiency at 1,400watts is near .052j/Gh.

One concern.  Per the website provided:

Quote
This Antminer S11 is not only the first 10nm miner for retailuse but using less than half the energy per gigahash of the S9, but it is also our most powerful miner to enter mass production .

Yet the stated power consumption is 70J/TH.  The S9 is 0.098J/GH, or 98J/TH.  70 is not "less than half" of 98.

Also, 70J/TH @ 22TH = 1540 Watts, not 1340W as advertised, and thats just for the chips not including power supply losses, fans, controllers, etc.

Also concerned that the same chip number, BM1387, is being used for both the current 16nm chip and this proposed chip.  That is rather unusual to say the least.

This level of "sloppy" rings of a fake ad.
