Yeah variance can be a bitch ! ;-)

But you still have a much better statistic then Ghash, for months 80+% luck @ Ghash, it's my view that they take bitcoin that isn't theirs...

Bitminter the pool to go!

All our four namecoin blocks today have been orphaned. This happened because a mining pool named F2pool (also known as Discus Fish) decided to enforce BIP66 rules on the namecoin network before all the other pools. Since they have somewhere around 75% of the namecoin hashpower they are basically controlling namecoin at this point.

The last of our orphaned blocks was one of 11 blocks mined by the other pools, all orphaned as F2pool's fork overtook us with 12 blocks. I'm not sure how many blocks from other pools have been orphaned in total.

Bitminer is now running modified namecoin software to mimic F2pool's behavior and stay on their side of these forks. That should help us avoid any further orphans caused by this issue.

Reminder: getblocktemplate and getwork support ends tomorrow on the first of august.

If you are using a pool URL that starts with "http" then you need to switch to stratum+tcp://mint.bitminter.com:3333
(or if you are using an ancient version of Bitminter client, switch to the latest)

Since the shutdown was announced we have gone from 120 to 90 active HTTP mining clients. Compared to the 17000 active Stratum connections this is a small fraction of our miners. It doesn't look like everyone will switch in time though. If you need help with this, please ask.

If it happens again I'll get that stuff.  Since I made my post it hasn't failed off of mint.bitminter.com.

Ok, let me know if you keep seeing miners fail over.

Most useful would be your IP address, the time period the miner couldn't connect to mint.bitminter.com and a traceroute to mint.bitminter.com
Email that to me at [email protected] or use the contact form on the website (don't post your IP here or anywhere else public).

How to traceroute:

Windows: open a command prompt and type tracert mint.bitminter.com
Linux/Mac: open a terminal window and type traceroute mint.bitminter.com
Copy-paste the output.

I am also having failovers but only in the last couple hours I think.  But they failed to a backup pool, came back, failed again, came back and then failed a third time.  I have setup us2.bitminter.com:3333 as the first backup so we'll see if they fail off of mint.bitminter.com:3333 to that.  I have a third backup on another pool.

My Miner keeps going to another pool? Not sure what is up? It reconnects to bitminter tho.

How often does this happen?

Could you try us2.bitminter.com:3333 or eu1.bitminter.com:3333 and see if that is more stable for you than mint.bitminter.com:3333 ?

Maybe once in 24 hours. Added another Miner and Worker today and the new one keeps disconnecting. But just seen your suggestion on the Stratum so set that one to the new worker.

Yeah, you can see how it was dragging its feet registering work for a while, and then speeding up again. All work was registered though.

Yeah the "score" was correct. Just wanted to warn you since you did some updates.

I wasn't anxious about it Tongue
