I just checked Bitmit and it is now unblocked. I have access to Bitmit through Sonic once agains. yay

But this is very interesting that you got listed in this spam/phishing blacklist. It very well could be related to that. As a buyer/trader for some months now I know this isn't a phishing site so I'm guerssing somebody maliciously added Bitmit to that list. Perhaps the same people that were DDoS attacking 2 months ago?

Maybe it's Bitmits competition who is doing all these nefarious things? who knows?

But what really bothers me is that this small ISP, Sonic.net who is supposed to have less restrictions that the big AT&T and Comcast blocked Bitmit because somebody *said* Bitmit was a phishing site, not because it actually *was* a phishing site

That would mean that any website could end up on a phishing blacklist just because somebody doesn't like it, or doesn't like the owner, or had  bad experience with another user of the site. It would be no different than adding this forum to a blacklist because I had a bad experience with one of it's users

This alone should be embarrassing for Sonic the ISP. For me it's truly bizarre since Bitmit is one of the few places I have NOT been scammed. I've been scammed with Paypal and Moneypack. In fact just about any reversible transaction involving fiat money is subject to scam, so if they're going to be blocking anything, they should be blocking Paypal and Moneypack and even Ebay and banks for that matter

That's what makes it so utterly weird. Bitmit is the one place I have NOT been scammed because it uses bitcoin and has escrow. And as long as there's escrow and feedback with users, it's good to go

Every single trade I've done on Bitmit has gone smooth. In fact, I've found it safer than using Localbitcoins because now there are reports of people trading bitcoins in person with counterfeit cash, right here in San Francisco

http://coinbits.com/2013/10/01/i-was-given-counterfeit-20-bills-in-exchange-for-bitcoins-at-a-localbitcoins-com-trade-seller-beware/

I have not had this problem on Bitmit. In fact, I noticed the recent extra security measure where Bitmit now requires email verification when you pay for an item with your Bitmit wallet. I'm assuming this is to stop man in the middle attacks or some kind of unauthorized release of wallet funds. It's a slight inconvenience, but if it cuts down of fraud, so much the better and gets more of my respect

Until I get some kind of proof otherwise, Bitmit is THE BEST site right now if you want to trade bitcoins. And this is the problem I have with Sonic. I do not think there ever was any proof Bitmit was a phishing site

But yes, Sonic has now allowed access again to Bitmit

The censorship is still annoying tho, especially from free speech activist Sonic.net

Bitmit is apparently being blocked by Sonic.net. I couldn't finalize an order for three days and called support and they said it was reported as a phishing site. wtf?

anybody heard of this before?

btw, I still can't access bitmit

Well.. now the the US got a great firewall too?  Undecided.. We figured out that Bitmit was blacklisted in one spam/phishing blacklist (WS SURBL) for some reason. This might be the reason some of users did not get any mails in the last days. However we managed it to get Bitmit removed from it.

I am not sure if this blacklist entry is related with your sonic censorship. Can you please check if it does work now? (It may take some time until your dns server refreshes the cache)

BitMit is the best Bitcoin market and a super good site for goods.

Thx for the positive feedback. We only allow you to give feedback for Bitmit orders, you won't be able to give feedback to orders that were placed outside of the bitmit system. But I am aware that we should integrate the give feedback option straight into the order page.

update, Dane Jasper, the CEO did say it was reported as a phishing site. I don't know why since I've traded things there for months without any problem

https://forums.sonic.net/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1667&p=10278#p10278

also confirmed that Sonic is blocking at at the moment but might unblock it soon. It's possible it's because they went to cloudfare or a bigger hosting to help stop the DDoS attacks but that was 2 months ago and currently it seems all other ISP can access Bitmit at the moment except Sonic users

enjoy your internet censorship lol

use tor to access bitmit.

It's kind of ridiculous given that CEO Dane Jasper is a free internet crusader. Sonic is supposed to be less restrictive than the big ISP's like AT&T and Comcast. that's why I use them

Transaction delay
So sorry for the delayed transaction procession. Our BTC daemon crashed and the automatic restart did not work properly. We had to wait for our technical engineer because due to our security policy access to our Bitcoin server is very restricted (four-eyes principle).

All transactions are up to date and almost all outgoing transactions are processed right now.

Bitcointalk.org hack
Bitcointalk.org was hacked and the attackers managed it to steal the database. The passwords were strongly encrypted but we recommend to all people who have used the bitcointalk.org password on any other service, to change it on these!

Charity
We sponsored 1 BTC to the charity project http://www.bitcoinnotbombs.com/hoodie-the-homeless/ . They are buying hoodies for homeless US citizens who cannot afford warm winter clothes.

Hopefully, we'll have a response. I bought and sold something last night and it all went smooth. Although, I'm a bit wary now until this has been sorted.

Give it a second guys . They are probably dealing with it . GTA 5 made over a billion dollars but still had connection problems , bitmit surely has the right to malfunction time to time.

always the student, never the master.
I'm having a problem where people are paying for orders, but it isn't showing up as paid on the order page.

I know that this has happened for at least one order, and may have happened on another order I just received.
