What a shame it is closing down.

With the PR bitcoin is getting at the moment this is a real lost opportunity in my eyes. An ebay for BTC could really break out into the mainstream and attract allot more people to the currency. ie need bitcoin to buy something from bitmit etc

Anyway... Can anyone come up with some real good alternatives. I know about cryptothrift and coingig, any other similar ebay/amazon's of the bitcoin world??

I believe this shutdown and temporary right?
No. Go to Bitmit.net and read it. They are going to sell it though.

This sucks.. inputs.io and now this.... it seems like the Bitcoin world is closing down....

Nah.  The chinese are taking over, you just wait for it.
I'm not sure, are the owners of bitmit selling the site or shutting it down?
Because It seems like they are just taking it down for good.

What the fuck, guys? I have HORRIBLE memory loss.

But you guys? Yeesh. They've "shut down" (and sold?) twice now, at least. Every time, they post a notice on BitMit.net with a deadline, and then nothing happens. Maybe it changes hands, maybe not. Who knows? I just remember wondering why someone would shut down, THEN sell.

Like - I have a pure-bred whatever. I'm going to stop feeding it, beat it, then sell it in a couple weeks.  Huh

Yeah, the concept of the site was really good. Either replace it, or we should force eBay to accept bitcoins Tongue

EDIT:

This is the message that pops up when you visit the site:

Bitmit is closing
Bitmit is shutting down its services in four weeks. Please complete your orders and withdraw your funds!

2013 November 6th
Read more..

You are allowed to place new orders until November 13th.
If you are interested in buying the site we will publish further information in about 2 weeks. Meanwhile please stay patient, updates are posted here.

There has not been any hack, missing funds etc. but we think that such a site should be run by a more professional business entity.

I hate how they have no reason why they close down, perhaps it was just a money issue.
It's kind of weird how inputs shuts down the same week.

Money issues? their fees were realy high i cant understand how can it be a money issue
Speaking of fees...

Would you rather have a fixed 1% fee across the site for example of a % fee which goes down as the price goes up?
