<...>However, it looks like no merit source was added for the Portuguese Local board. =(
It may be early to tell though. Bear in mind that not all Merit Sources have the same monthly allowance, and there is likely a wide variety as to the amount. I have read that some have seen their allowance increased over time, so perhaps if there were to be one, he/she may become more noticeable as time goes by.

I thought that it might be a possibility.
That's nice to hear (actually, read)
 Smiley

Let's see how it goes then. I hope you are right, it will be a revival to our board.

Bump.

I saw that theymos added some more Merit sources. This is great.

Due to excessive garbage-posting, you now need 1 merit to be a Jr Member. All existing Jr Members who didn't meet the requirement were demoted. Also, newbies can no longer set any signature or personal text.

...

With help from DdmrDdmr, I just added 36 new merit sources, which should help newbies achieve the requirement. But if you're incapable of posting anything worthwhile, then you will never rank up, and you shouldn't: this isn't the forum for you.

However, it looks like no merit source was added for the Portuguese Local board. =(

Not sure that my "vote" as a Full member means a lot, I support you as merit source!

For sure it would be great if Brasil and Portuguese language in general should have own merit source.

I've been to Portugal this year and hope to visit Brasil next year! (Hopefully for crypto-conference, I know there will be one in Spring, as it's always good to combine traveling and crypto-education!)

I'd like to endorse @bitmover to be a merit source, as well. Based on their post history, as well as their selection of posts that have been merited, they seem to have a great understanding of how the merit system operates on the forums.

Good luck, bitmover!

Bump for you, @bitmover.

We still need more merit sources on the forums, @theymos. Where you at?? Let's git 'er done!

If one of the principal ways of encouraging people is to find good users, with impeccable criteria and the will to help others to be an important part of the forum, then Bitmover should absolutely become a merit source.

As an active member of my local (Spanish) I can see how the forum is kind of centralized, and how for those unable to speak English to rank-up is a really difficult task. That`s why I absolutely believe that merit sources should be implemented in local boards, so the forum can become a decentralized place where everyone has the chance of proving his/herself and to rank-up.

If we want good users to be able to rank up and earn a place in here by their contributions, then local merit sources have a great part and are truly necessaries.
So I support this, I hope Bitmover can become a merit source and help to improve the forum and encourage some good members to continue with their amazing work.

I fully support this application. I believe that having more merits distributed in the Portuguese section will stimulate the creation of new great topics and posts. Especially unique topics that are not just translations. Moreover, @bitmover has already proved to be a user who constantly produces quality posts throughout the forum and only sends merits to those who really deserve it. We have two other applications of very dedicated people. I hope at least one is chosen.

Today, most of the Brazilian BTC community is, unfortunately, on Facebook. And we are in a constant effort to attract more quality users and companies. We also have a very successful subscription campaign that is exclusive to the Portuguese section

First of all, I would like to thank you for giving out Merits to my fellow citizens, Filipino. I know our posts are written in Tagalog and it's really difficult to understand for you guys unless you use Google translator but still, you found the worth of my fellows works. I from Philippines as a Filipino appreciates your help. Thanks.

I'm supporting your application and I'm sure you'll be accepted soon. Goodluck buddy.

2 - If you look closer, respected users such as DdmrDdmr and xtraelv also merited that Philipino post, as this is a very interesting post. I was mentioned in that post also. So no, I am not blindly handing over my sMerits.

Yes, I’m with you on this one. Not that it should be an issue really, but just to clarify:

theyoungmillionaire I believe is on of the best (if not the best) asset that I know of for his local Philippine community and amongst the best posters in general. He tends to make his posts rather useful and directs people to act according to the spirit that is required around here.
As such, he has created multiple guides and has required in the past permission to reference material on his local board. As such, I’ve even google translated the referenced post ( [Filipino Guide] Ang Bitcointalk Merit System ) for my personal understanding, and found it indeed meritable. Curiously enough, half of the posts are half in English on that board so one does not really go blindly into that board.

I personally, from time to time, even go to visit other local boards such as the Italian and Portuguese ones, and may have merited a post or two there at some point. It's a challenge to understand different languages to a certain degree, but not too much more that trying to decode many posts placed on the English board (be it for language lack of skills on the author’s side, or specific technicalities which I may not be familiar with yet).

Portuguese board I can sympathise with: they have similar merit ratios as my local board, and only come out a bit better in the ratio merit/post. Nevertheless, the overall daily awarded merit for the board is in the 7 to 8 sMerits region which is not too incentivating from a local board's perspective.

You have included some English posts, you have also merited some post in Filipino local board, why? do you understand the language or you just handed out a merit blindly? overall I don't find you well established to take the position of a merit source but this is just my personal opinion. maybe you could be a good choice for your local board.

digaran,

1 - I have included English posts because I will, as a source, merit posts in English and Portuguese.

2 - If you look closer, respected users such as DdmrDdmr and xtraelv also merited that Philipino post, as this is a very interesting post. I was mentioned in that post also. So no, I am not blindly handing over my sMerits.

3 - I believe I am a "somewhat" established member. I believe i fulfill all requisites theymos asked. I believe rank is not the most important here, but the attitude and history in the forum.  If not, no problem.

If you want to be a merit source:

 1. Be a somewhat established member.
 2. Collect TEN posts written in the last couple of months that have not received nearly enough merit for how good they are, and post quotes for them all in a new Meta thread.
 3. We will take a look at your history and maybe make you a source.

I am especially eager to have merit sources in sub-communities such as the local sections.

I think anyone can apply to be Merit Source and I'm sure theymos is very objective in assessing Merit Source candidates and its decisions are not based on how many members agree or disagree.

to understand other languages it's very easy by using software Grammarly (premium) it is 90% accurate.
