BitPonzi is back online, and transferred to the VPS. It'll be a bit slower than it was, but hopefully more reliable.

This is my kind of luck when I go out of town.. fucking maintenance tripped over the power cord between the server rack and the UPS and didn't plug the damn thing back in. You'd think the loud clicking of 8 15K SCSI drives and lots of fans shutting off would give you a clue you fucked up, but no...they didn't even bother to plug it back in.

Anyways, I added 24 hours to all the deposit/round/expiration times, so it should be exactly as it was last night when it went offline.

With my luck, I'll have perfect uptime again on my server until I put something else important on it... Seems to always be up except for when I need it to be.

http://vps.bitponzi.net/ until DNS rolls over.

Alright guys relax... mb300sd will most likely be online in a couple of hours, because he typically simply disappears on Friday.  My estimate is that we're less than 5 hours away from bitponzi going back online.

Ugh..

Well the host he uses has a pretty tough TOS, so perhaps it did get taken down. It's also Friday, and he might have a plan. Maybe he lost everyone's Bitcoins playing poker. Either way, it'll sort out. Worst case, I'll hire a new web developer to reimplement Bitcoinduit v2, and narrow the set of options to include public bounty addresses, eroding time and the API piece needed to extend to other theme / language sites.

Oh, and I'll pay mb300sd's debt to you if he isn't able to.

Regards,
Jonathan

Wow, very generous of you, thanks!
The odd thing is that mb300sd lives in GMT-5 but the website was removed at 12:45am... which is midnight.  Would a host employee really wake up at midnight to remove sites?  Doesn't seem right.  I have complete confidence in mb300sd's intentions though, as he has dealt successfully on the Goods forum before.
edit: I wonder if the Tor address is working?
further edit: it isn't. https://md2cmwrfjvcyhgvx.tor2web.org/proxyg7n6l6m302/index.php?e=http_error&return=%2FDefault.aspx&p=YTozOntpOjA7czozOiI1MDMiO2k6MTtzOjE4OiJGb3J3YXJkaW5nIGZhaWx1cmUiO2k6MjtzOjA6IiI7fQ==

I'm already cooking up some Disappearance Theories Wink
edit: That got me thinking.  The website is down.  Before this incident, the website had been up mostly and when it was down it went back up a few minutes later automatically, suggesting routine server maintenance.  The fact that the website was taken COMPLETELY down is rather intriguing, as I think even if he had problems IRL the website would remain up...  I may be reading too much into this but it seems more serious than server issues.
further edit: Oh no I have 18btc on his site Sad

24 really isn't that long. Life does have a tendency to interfere with online activities sometimes.

Anyone know if mb300sd has disappeared for long periods of time like this before?

Perhaps we should start a bounty for open sourcing it? I'm willing to contribute a bitcoin to such a bounty if I get my money out of DAILYMASSIVE3 first.

Nah.. It's not dead. But.. Ponzi games DO need ridiculous colors, clowns and generous hosts with enough time on their hands to maintain everything.

Seriously, you want to see? I mean if you're really that down.. I shut down bitcoinduit with ~100 uniques a day and pretty heavy betting volume.

Wait, what am I saying. No, I'd rather if mb300sd would open source and just let a few of us get it up and running, and leverage the API for beautiful multi language things.

Ugh I'm getting this sinking feeling about bitponzi.  Every hour down is one more lost visitor the next day.  Ponzi just died Sad

i started a new round, but the cron is only updating every 5 minutes, so for payouts it will take 10 minutes per payout. its old style bitcoinduit, with a little jackpot going on. if you want, play this until bitponzi.net is fixed.

http://atmco.in - never mind..

When the site comes back up, I will make a 20btc deposit, 30/30 game with 8hr exp. to get site traffic back to normal.
Who's with me? pledge!

I'll make it if >=10btc is pledged.

I'll be happy to pledge 5 BTC if I get my investment back from your previous game, one way or another.

I was counting on an overnight jackpot  Sad
Sniped by server!

I was counting on a morning one, and on being able to bet on another round this morning, before leaving for work.  And I'm also into some of the afternoon (GMT) rounds.

I'm afraid it won't be up and running again any time soon, since it's still very early at the server timezone (Timestamp: Fri, 23 Sep 2011 04:22:23 -0700).

Hmm. I think I'll offer mb300sd my unused Windows VPS, should he want/need it.

In fact, it would be better to have the core application running on a more dedicated server, with thin sites accessing the API, json and javascript..

He said he was migrating the game somewhere else last time there were so many problems.  It'd be great if it wasn't a WinSlow box, but something minimally serious.

Hopefully he can roll back the rounds.

I don't know.  He gave people back the coins that they lost because of the down time to compensate, but I don't think he did roll back any round.
