As the title says, I wanted to have with me a BitSafe stick with a running Electrum setup. I use it for introducing Bitcoin to new users (Electrum helps me not scare them with the fact that you need to download 700 MB of data before you can test the system) and also for my own safe usage. Nothing is stored on the USB stick, I simply type my mnemonic phrase and I have access to my coins, I am not afraid if I lose my stick or it becomes damaged.

If you create a new wallet with Electrum, remember that when you shut down, the file is not saved to your USB stick! You must remember the seed or the mnemonic next time you use it (choose option Restore when starting Electrum) or you will lose your coins! There is no backup (and yes, I consider this a feature)!
If you're looking for a portable way to remember the seed, you might want to try this passcard generator:
http://blog.mybox.ro/2011/12/16/passcard-generator-for-libreoffice/ . Download the file, open it with LibreOffice (OpenOffice), choose the sheet "Hexadecimal digits (lowercase), include your seed somewhere, stored in a way that only you know how to retrieve ("draw" something, add-substract something to numbers, and so on), print, cut, laminate and keep it in your wallet.
