This new coin will have potential it may be something fresh and unique. But why in the name of Lord everyone is is wishing bitcoin bad?
Real sing new, even good and advanced altcoin is won't necessarily mean death to Bitcoin. Ethereum didn't kill bitcoin.
Why people assume that this new altcoin will kill bitcoin? There is plenty of space for new and well developed coins.

I actually hate people creating coins for the weirdest things, like that concoins. What is the point of creating new coins that do not have anything innovative but just to create a coin for a particular purpose? Why not just use bitcoins for bittorrents? It still does the same thing and it doesn't need to create a new shit coin.

Actually concoin is pretty good and has an actual use and reason to be same as this coin.

I was wondering when something like this would be seriously considered....However, I do see where it might cause a backlash.  A project like this doesn't mean that downloads are paid for....it just means that seeding is paid with an otherwise arbitrary asset....right?

Well, at least he is not going to use Bitcoin for his service that promotes elicit activities, so we {Bitcoin community } cannot be blamed for this.

I am so sick of the finger pointers, saying Bitcoin is used for illegal activities, so let them do this with their own Alt coin. Yes, we will miss out on

some adoption, but we will be free from the flaming when this backfire.  Angry

LOL, i am not going to read an article that is about another "rival" cryptocurrency for bitcoin. what is that now, did we get past the 1000th coin that made this claim already or not yet?

in any case, what is this coin supposed to do, can anyone give me a TLDR. people go buy "CohenCoin" and then pay to be able to download what is already free. or possibly pay to get pirated stuff?!! i am sorry but i can not come up with any reason why we need another coin for something that a couple of thousand other altcoins are doing.

If there's an attempt to monetise torrenting, the torrenters will simply say fuck off and do their own thing. That's why they torrent.

I can't see any indication of him planning this and he's probably sad that his invention is a byword for dodginess.

Indeed, if he tries to make people pay for torrents he's going to fuck himself up. I doubt he is that doubt, people don't want to pay for anything generally, let alone digital stuff that is already available for free.

But then again, uploading something on the internet is also free, and people love making free money, so I can see it being balanced out by this fact.

Bram is a good guy, understands why Core is best and why BU is crap etc, so I can see him delivering a good an interesting project. I'll surely buy some, I can see this pumping hard..

Apparently, Bram Cohen, founder of BitTorrent, has announced plans to introduce his own crypto-currency within the next few months.
looks to me like everyone these days wants a piece of the action! after the recent big coins that filled the news with the hype spam to pump it is obvious that everyone sees a potential market to milk dry!

If he was able to put a cryptocurrency value on each seed that BitTorrent users currently serve/seeding. It might just be something Smiley
Bittorrent users will be able to provide seed and earn cryptocurrency amount per uploads Smiley
putting money on something that has been free for years is just going to kill it in my opinion.

Make it PoU = Proof of Upload and everyone will be happy.

The more you upload, the more coins you earn. This is the real PoW which is superior to ASIC mining. This has the most potential than any other alt coin that came up till now. Might be the next "real" big thing.

If all the torrent users in the world adopt  this cryptocurrency, bitcoin might face it`s strongest competitor. Grin
I don`t use torrents i never will ,but there is big potential in this project.

This can be an interesting development. I hope the team of programmers and developers behind this coming cryptocurrency can really be able to make it into the market in the right shape. Well, this is certainly a big good news for many BitTorrent users and fans all over the world. I for one will be interested to be a part of this nice-looking project. I can sense that more and more niche projects are riding the fame of the cryptocurrency thing. I am just hoping that investors in the end will not be holding an empty bag. Smiley

Coins are mined just by user seeding.
