I'm having HUGE issues with bitfinex. withdrew some ETP nearly 3 weeks ago and its never made it to my wallet. TXID shows couldnt find transaction for the given hash. tried their support ticket and no reply. nearly 3 weeks later and still no reply. The lack of customer service is absolutely disgraceful. Any ideas how i may be able to get them to resend the transaction?

Bitfinex got hacked before and users have lost thousands of bitcoin because of security loop hole bitfinex had so I suggest you to not use them.

Bittrex in other hand can be considered as safer exchange with lots of trading volume and coin pairs till now, but never keep all your cryptos in echange wallet.

I lost trust to bitfinex as well when they got hacked last year. Though they paid their customers eventually but that did not bring my trust back. I trade at bittrex right now. Before that it was polo, but polo have problems recently.

Nowadays we can see a lot of scam accusations against Bittrex.
Holding/freezing users funds/accounts and also there is some accusations of accounts hacking (not proven yet I think).

Actually there is no exchange whom we can trust and trade there blindly.
There is always high level risk in all those exchanges. Unfortunately we don't have much option to choose the best one from all.

I am just like a floating boat, sometimes using polo, sometimes bittrex.

Due to the recent spike in new users wanting to buy, hodl or trade Bitcoin and other crypto-currencies, most of the crypto-currencies exchanges have had difficulties to cope with this surge of users. In order to answer some of these questions, a real-time evaluation of the different crypto-currencies exchanges online reputation has been set up on the page linked below. At time of writing, on one hand, Kraken has a bit more than 24% negative mentions, which the second worst after Bitfinex (a special page has been set up regarding Bitfinex trust because there are other issues due to its link with Tether and its potential solvency). On the other hand, Binance is rising in Google search volume with only around 10% negative mentions. You can check it out from time to time and propose other exchanges that you would like to be added if needed. https://www.reputaction.com/en/crypto-currencies-exchanges-online-reputation

If there's only 2 platforms and option is between Bittrex and Bitfinex I'll go with Bittrex. Bittrex may have some problems lately like those disabled accounts without informing their users, they have a big edge with Bitfinex because Bittrex have more pairs than Bitfinex. In terms of Volume, I think Bittrex have a higher volume but I love the UI of Bitfinex compared to Bittrex.

Bitfinex is still good even though they faced one of the biggest challenge of their business still many are trading on them. But when it comes to these two options, I'll go with bittrex.

I can see that most of the people here are for bittrex and this makes them one of the most known and best exchange of all time.

The disabling of account is due to the IRS and if you'll comply to their verification, you'll be fine.

Bittrex is an upcoming exchange, but they unfortunately don't allow actual fiat versus crypto trading. If fiat trading is an important aspect for you, just look into Bitstamp or Kraken.

Bitfinex is what I consider to be an extremely shady exchange where obviously, I am referring to their supposed hack. I would never make use of such an exchange.

Especially when you consider that there are a few very decent alternatives ready to be used. As mentioned, Bitstamp and Kraken are great exchanges, but GDAX and Gemini as well ~ it's all up to you.

When did Bitfinex get hacked and how many users were affected? Tried to look it up but hard to find more info

Hey there! I'm considering switching exchanges from bitter to bitfinex. I've heard many times now that it's much better! Im sure there's 1000 topics connected with it. Just want to know your word if u already switched from one to another.
Tell me what's better what's worse, is it worth it.

Thanks in advance!

if you want altcoin trading bittrex is the best and above bitfinex
but if you want bitcon trading with pair fiat money, bitfinex still good and above bittrex

Bitfinex has confirmed it will block all US customers from November 9 as regulatory uncertainty bites. In its latest blog post Monday, Bitfinex, which already prohibits US users from becoming verified on its platform, said they should now remove all hosted tokens.

"This message is further to our announcement of August 11, 2017, with respect to terminating our business with U.S. individual customers. As indicated in the announcement, we are terminating trading, deposits, and withdrawal functionality for U.S. individual customers by no later than November 9, 2017. U.S. customers are already barred from receiving financing from other users on Bitfinex’s peer-to-peer financing platform. This restriction will remain and, in addition, U.S. individual customers will no longer be able to provide financing on Bitfinex effective November 9, 2017.

All U.S. individual users must make arrangements to withdraw their Digital Tokens by November 9th."

It was looming for quite a while now, and I think eventually, US users will be happy that they were forced to part with this exchange. It boggles my mind that people actually have the balls to make use of this exchange again. Initially, people were rightfully furious and said that they wouldn't use them ever again, and now they paid back their debt, everything is suddenly ok? It definitely seems like it since no one is talking about it anymore, and this exchange has managed to grow big again....

I like to use both, no problem as long as I trade there. but several times the old alt deposit once entered it into my bittrex account. maybe that's just my experience trading there, both exchangers are nice and safe. hopefully we get luck there.

Both Bittrex and Bitfenix have been "hacked" - more than likely inside jobs.

Also Bittrex will holds your funds.
They held over 5k of bitcoin from me for accidentally sending to a bitcoin cash wallet on their exchange.
Refusing to help!   Thieves.

Dont transfer your money to Bitfinex. There is a good chanse you will lose it! I lost 22.15 ETH during routine withdrawal. Its 4 WEEKS PASSED SINCE I SENT THEM REQUEST. And i STILL HAVE NOT received any response from their support. Check their twitter comments - it is full of same stories. Seems they just stealing money from customers, their support does not work.
Once I had same problem with Poloniex, they replied and solved it in 2 weeks.

After lots of problems I have encountered in Bitfinex especially last year, I stopped using this exchanges and began switching to other platforms.

They gave me frustration when Im still new to this trading thing last 2015 and last year after they converted all my bitcoin balance into tokens. If ever hack is the issue they just prove how breachable their security was because they experienced lots of hacks already.

The migration of volume from Poloniex to Bittrex has turned Bittrex into one of the shittiest exchanges I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. It was hard enough trading on an exchange with broken charts, now you have a two month response time for a support ticket and if you try to bring up concerns in their slack channel they'll kick you out or ban you. I'd recommend hitbtc.com or the up and coming binance.com exchange. Although the latter lacks many trading pairs, both are far ahead of Bittrex in terms of customer support, user interface and execution speed. The user interface of Bittrex and Poloniex is literally like using windows 95 in comparison to hitbtc, binance or any of the other professional exchanges.

Don't believe me? Sign up for an account at hitbtc or binance and try to tell me that trading on there isn't night and day different from Poloniex or Bittrex. The nice thing about hitbtc.com is that not only have they been around since 2013, they don't have any withdrawal limits for crypto or verification process for crypto only trades. It's a really a no brainer.

Thanks for the heads up. I've been searching for an altcoin exchange with lots of coins available (as opposed to exchanges like Bitstamp and GDAX), and was considering Bittrex. Right as I was about to sign up, they started implementing changes to their verification tiers, so I never made an account for fear of having funds locked up.

I had funds tied up for weeks on Poloniex with their $2000/day limit (they wouldn't upgrade me to Tier 2 without giving up SSN), and I don't feel like dealing with that again.

I'll check out HitBTC and Binance -- are these okay to use for US residents? Verification requirements? Thanks.

My pleasure. As long as you don't deal in fiat, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. We need to vote with our coins and move our volume to another exchange that respects our rights to access our funds instead of trying to run a ponzi/honeypot. IMO Bitsquare is the future, a trustless decentralized exchange is the only thing that will remedy this situation. I know the feeling with Crapoliex, I went through the same thing. Once my coins were off, I never looked back.
