Each block of information contains something called a hash, which then connects it to the next block, making a data chain called a blockchain. The information in these blocks is permanent and immutable, which prevents the misuse and creation of fake BTC or fake transactions.
What is interesting is that the term blockchain was not coined by Satoshi himself, but it was coined later probably by those who tried to copy Bitcoin (altcoins makers). Satoshi used the term time chain.
