It always takes forever for me too. Even from 93 percent to done seems to take many hours.

This happened to me too. On some blocks you have to wait a while.

Great! Is it the first time with bitcoin ?

No, but it is the first time with the official package taken from Debian repositories.

Give Electrum a try. It has all the same features and doesn't need to download the blockchain.

Actually I deleted the broken blockchain, and currently I'm re-downloading everything.

Finished. No problem this time.

it should also be possible to get the blockchain off torrent to get up to speed. Sadly I don't have a link, perhaps some others do ?

I'm experiencing exactly the same problem, by using the official Debian package:

So, is this a bug?

Bitcoin also requires a computer that is operating correctly, it runs the CPU and drives at 100% for hours, and has low tolerance for bad math. It requires about 100 trillion CPU instructions to download the blockchain, all performed correctly. If you have a laptop that has the cooling fins plugged up with fuzz, are overclocking, have a SATA cable creating CRC errors, or have one bit of bad RAM, Bitcoin will find it.

Both of these are correct block hashes for the main chain; it looks like one p2p client you are connecting to might be serving you up a corrupted block 139548, confounded with some problem recovering to a correct blockchain. We would need to look further back in the log file where blocks up to 139548 are downloaded normally and then something happens to see when the problems started occurring and deduce what data Bitcoin might be receiving. If you can post the complete debug.log/db.log files from download start to blocks 140000+ on the web somewhere it might help.

If you want to skip quite a bit of downloading, you can get this torrent: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/reduced-final-state-blk0001dat-with-pruned-index-94881 - -loadblock it's orphan-free blocks instead, which definitely shouldn't error.

Links seem to be nothing like the challenges indicated above.

Scroll bar. Use it.  Grin

Still failed to finish downloading. Stopped aroud 82% and this time I had zero connections to the network when I checked.

Yes I'm using the latest client. I'll try the online wallet, didn't know you could use your wallet.dat

Screw it, I'm done with the client. It's giving me to much trouble and I don't know why. I never noticed that import page on the online wallet, if you were logged in it only let you import with other methods for some reason.

I had the EXACT same problem  Wink

I don't know what is wrong. It's driving me crazy.

Are you using the latest release of the client, v0.7.2?

why do I need that specific username and password for the config file ?

And yea like I said, I've deleted the data folder multiple times and retried.

I'll report back in the morning, I know it's going to take forever as usual to download.
