Yep.

They have removed pingit and also GBP payments through sofort, the best option now is to do this through different websites:

With a UK debit card you can do this:

Simply sign up to transferwise: http://transferwise.com/u/f0bd

Open bitstamp

Click SEPA deposit on bitstamp page to get payment/banking information

Back to transferwise and input the details from bitstamp by pressing the "make a payment"

Upload your funds to transferwise by debit card or bank transfer and when they get that payment, the will then send it on to bitstamp as a SEPA payment.

24-72 hours later your bitstamp account should be credited and ready to buy bitcoin

UK wire transfers to international destinations are around £25 I think at my local bank branch.

Also they take an age to complete (process)

SEPA seems to be the quickest and cheapest in terms of fees I think

Agree, and if anyone can find a SEPA payment system that beats transferwise's flat fee of £1 for up to 200 GBP/EUR - 0.5% for larger then I would be interested to know.

I don't think Transferwise is needed for BITSTAMP as they state on their website free deposits for UK bank accounts IIRC.  You need to send the money from your online banking as a international transfer/payment.

Does anyone know if Transferwise can be used to receive money in the UK cheaply as BITSTAMP does charge for UK deposits.

No it isn't but I am sure you will find your bank will sting you whatever method you choose in terms of fees and exchange rates.

As far as I know transferwise is a payment system only

BitStamp apparently.

Now I've not tried it, however I'm browing their site.  There doesn't seem to be an option to deposit £, only $ and EUR.  We (UK) are apparently not in the SEPA zone.  Could anyone clarify how a UK user is to purchase btc from BitStamp?

Also check out, http://bitcoinfridge.co.uk/

UK is in the SEPA zone

Use transferwise to save on extortionate bank fees and exchange rates - http://transferwise.com/u/054b

Ok, so I can exchange to EUR using transferwise.  How long does that take?

AH "Great Britain"...so used to seeing United Kingdom!

I have had payments go through and arrive at Bitstamp same day, longest was next day but I guess it could take longer.

Bitstamp

Deposits

SEPA deposit will be credited in 1 - 3 business days. All funds transferred in EUR will be converted to USD, free of charge.

International bank transfer deposits carry 0.1% deposit fee on our side (minimum fee = $15) and take 2 - 5 business days to credit. All other currencies will be converted to USD

Withdrawals

SEPA - Minimum withdrawal amount is $10

International withdrawals will be charged with 0.09% fee, minimum fee is $15.00. Minimum amount for international withdrawal is $50.00. You have $23.25 available. You always have to insert U.S. dollar amount you wish to withdraw. This amount will be converted to the selected currency, free of charge.

So I can deposit GBP?

How long will it take to deposit/change to USD?

*EDIT*

Are we considered "International"?

Interestingly enough, yesterday (and the preceding couple of days) the BT choice wasn't even available to select in blockchain.

It IS now.  However, once clicked a red message is displayed on top of the opened box stating BT is currently not available.

MAYBE a step in the right direction.  It was so simple and quick to use.
