People always say that Blockchain.info is good for a "daily sendings" but that's totally inacurrate. What makes you that you can't use the best and easiest / fastest wallet in the world, Bitcoin Core, for your daily sendings? It's pretty much easier and faster that Blockchain.info, it's even more safe!

Because you have to download the blockchain. Limited bandwidth or download quota could be problems for some users. If you don't have it opened on "stand by", you'll need to wait hours for it to sync before you can spend your coins.

Is coinbase good? Since so many people are using them, I should give it a go.

Coinbase may be good as a wallet, but it's definitely the worst ( or at least one of the worst ) exchange, their fees are goddamn high and even if you want a refund ( before BTC is send ) they will charge you with an insane fee. I believe that Coinbase is made just for collecting fees, they don't contribute to the community.

It is impossible for them to steal your money. They can't even view your balance.
Proof?

I recently switched away from blockchain.info's wallet to a software SPV wallet that is open source and able to be verified by third parties as secure.

I don't use bc.i anymore either but FYI the way you should be using them is through their browser extensions, which are open source and verifiable by third parties.

Hello guys, here is my personal view ---
Online wallets are always risky even if it provides maximum security. SPV wallets like as Electrum in offline mode is 100% risk free. So, my opinion is with large amounts you must use Electrum cold storage.

In math we trust.
Hi all,

Please i want to know if Blockchain.info and coinbase.com - are the most used web wallets ?

thank you .

Yes they are , mostly Blockchain.info because Coinbase is basically an exchange more then a wallet .
But .. IT's not recommended to use them at all because It's online and you have no control on your private keys , If one of those websites gets hacked, your bitcoin are screwed . you may wanna use something like Electrum , Multibit or Bitcoin Core .
No that's wrong blockchain.info provides control over your private keys.
It is impossible for them to steal your money. They can't even view your balance.
However, using a bitcoin client(even an SPV one) is still better than any web wallet.

Sure. Coinbase has millions of users. Blockchain too. Are the most reliable wallets. Coinbase is better than blockchain because have no fee when you send bitcoins. When you send bitcoins all the fees are supported and paid by the company (coinbase). What else can be asked from a such service?

Well... No fees only if your sending to another user of Coinbase. Right? Also, worth mentioning that Coinbase has been known to shutdown accounts that they are used for gambling and whatever else goes against their ToS (I haven't actually read it).

Before Mt. Gox got goxed, it was one of the most used site. And look what happened. So it's never a good idea to use web wallet. New users should quickly get their knowledge.

web wallets are ok if you only store small amounts in them. but there are newbie and regular users who use it as their main wallet with all their coins in it. that's just stupid.

It's amazing actually how many people uses these online wallets! The risk with these wallets is much, much bigger. I guess this is just unavoidable at the moment since they are the easiest to use. We really need to simplify and to improve security.

coinbase on the other hand is very slow, and both are online wallet, not reliable at all like every other online wallet, also blockchain apparently it is removed from bitcoin.org

still among those web wallet that they have introduced bitgo appear to have faced some problem with one user at least

so i'm not trusting any of those

yes. but it looks like blockchain.info is the most used online wallet and most used overall wallet between new users since it is easy to use and famous. also Coinbase is popular but i think the fact that you don't have access to your private keys might turn people around.

always remember that the online wallets are the least safe wallets that you can use for keeping your bitcoins. because you are essentially relying on somebody else to keep your coins safe.

Yes, even i have a bc.i and coinbase wallet account. But it risky to store big amount there(web wallet or exchanger). Better to use a wallet which can be encrypted, https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet my recommend is use Electrum

Blockchain.info with almost 4 million wallet users and Coinbase with 2.2 million users are certainly the most used online wallet services.
