I would like to coordinate a task force as I have PCI DSS/security/whitehat/blackhat/real IT experience.    How can we start this?

You all need to store your own coins and not rely on a web-wallet.....

true, but web wallets are so cool!  I just want to believe bitcoin is the future and use it carelessly like its normal and safe. too bad its not so mainstream and secure yet...

Right!  And until there is a TASK FORCE or standards based approach like (PCI COMPLIANCE) I think we will always be at risk and get GOXXED.   Multi billion dollar exchange and they don't have proper security in place.  Security is not a bolt-on.  ITS A REQUIREMENT /rant.

I like the sound of "task force" in this context, a exchange or mining pool could easily create by setting aside a small amount of block fees or transaction fees to a wallet that would be paid out to those who discover ways to make the community more secure. I would mine at a pool , or trade at a exchange that implimented something like this.

God, I honestly hope the developer doesn't see this post. Stress is never a good thing when developing, let's hope it's just a system configuration error and not an actual programmatic one.

I'll give you that one instantwallet then inputs and a few other wallet services
QT or Armory for safe storage of large amounts
However for quick inputs a tiny amount for transactions is fine as long as you have a Bitcoin service in the area
Or are using a Bitcoin ATM and didn't bring a printable QR code but your phone

you sould have the keys of you blockchain wallet blockchain.info does NOT have custumers private keys.  , you can check the funds on blockexplorer http://blockexplorer.com/
