Business model of Boosteroid scaling https://medium.com/@Boosteroid/business-model-of-boosteroid-scaling-57f952a73a4eCurrently Boosteroid has already developed software but we still need computing facilities to scale our service.
Initially we planned to build our own data centers all over the world to scale the project. We considered two main aspects: data centers should be located closer to end users so that they can operate better; the more servers are there in our data centers the bigger number of users will be able to use the service simultaneously.
However, when we found out how much time and money was it necessary to build data centers, we realized, that even with assistance and support of the Georgian government we still needed more than 9 months to get and prepare the site to build a data center in a free industrial zone, to obtain all needed documentation, get a reduced electricity tariff and complete data center engineering. According to the project budget, expenses for this infrastructure increased by 2–3 times comparing to estimated costs.
So, we gave up the idea to build data centers all over the world to scale the project now, as it would take too long. At the same time our software is ready to operate.

We analyzed all wrong steps we’d made and decided that our top priority should be the launch of our platform as fast as possible and reduce capital costs. Boosteroid should become available to users all around the globe, everywhere where there’s an Internet connection, by 2020.
We’ve found a solution and reviewed our initial scaling concept. Instead of building our own data centers we decided in favor of a so-called Colocation model (placing own equipment and servers in third party data centers). This model will allow us to provide our services all over the world and the scaling will take much less time and money.
