I would hate to see you become a source.
No need to be so rude here, hate is a very hard word.  Wink

Some of the points Brainboss mentioned there are maybe a little bit uncommon and it's usual on DT that different people have a different point of view. There are also points I disagree with like OPs view of not giving negative tags to plagiarizers. I would have no problem to tag them and warn people from sending sMerit to them. If an account is banned for plagiarism we can't see it right now directly and it would be a pity to waste the scarce sMerits for banned plagiarizers.

(Slightly) different opinions are an important factor of DT and I think theymos has nothing against it. The community is always evaluating how to judge things and adjust them if abuse is detected. OP hasn't done a favor to himself by posting his guidelines for DT but I don't see a reason to affect his Merit Source application in a negative way. I would like to support him, too.  Smiley

I could make a list of great ICOs and only list scams, not being the author of said ICOs wouldn't make my judgment any less deficient.
Well, that's very far-fetched.  Cheesy

I forgot more than you will ever know.
However, based on that thread I don't think brainboss exhibited judgement that was severely lacking.  What he posted was basically a summary of community standards that already exist but which were unwritten.  In other words, he didn't make all that stuff up himself.  He wrote down what are essentially unwritten rules for leaving feedback.

To be honest that is exactly my point. It is more of a list of things he was able to scramble up, but hasn't gone through any "filtering" if you will.

And there have been some people trying to adapt, or give feedback on the list, with no action/answer taken or given.

I stand by my point.

I could make a list of great ICOs and only list scams, not being the author of said ICOs wouldn't make my judgment any less deficient.

I don't think theymos will consider to add more merit sources soon, maybe till the end of 2019, or even never consider about this.
Some potential reasons that led to theymos' hesitation are:
- Some abusements from limited merit sources.
- The admin don't want to generate more merits and sMerits to all merit sources  (both current sources and new ones). Because, more monthly generated merits and sMerits will in turn lead to higher sMerits circulations in the forum. That, in turn, gives forum users more chances to be promoted, much faster, and in other side might create more potential incorrect usages of allocated sMerits.
- Limited merit sources, and limited monthly generated merits and sMerits will force the general quality of posts/ topics, users higher than adding more of them. Because users have to fight hard each other with their posts, their contributions to get sMerits from merit sources.

In general, I think theymos has lack of interests in adding more merit sources.
The admin might only consider about this if more than 10% of current merit sources kicked out (due to abusements, for instance).

I am alive but in hibernation.
I would hate to see you become a source.

This topic shows your poor judgement: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/infographic-guide-on-possible-reasons-to-leave-a-veve-trust-feedbacks-5100675 - you are just throwing rules in the air, that are at best not true. Bumping them all the time won't make them any more legit.

But he is not applying for Moderator position or proving his worthiness to be DT member.

Merit Source is a very different aspect though cryptohunter mixed DT,Merit source and merits all in one.

Can I support this application? I guess yes.

I don't think it's the right thing to judge people through their own perception that is against to yours.
I disagree--I think it would be fine in this context to judge people based on their skewed perception, since being a merit source does require decent judgement.

And all of that aside, you don't have to be Mother Teresa in order to be a merit source.  If a source ends up abusing their position, that abuse will get picked up on fairly quickly and the member won't be a merit source for long.  So I think if someone has a reasonably good reputation and shows reasonably good judgement, they ought to be considered.  OP has been around here long enough and his reputation certainly is good enough.  I'd support his application.  The real question is whether Theymos is thinking of adding any more merit sources.  Haven't heard anything about that lately, nor have I seen a lot of applications.

I don't think it's the right thing to judge people through their own perception that is against to yours. I have seen his Merit History and the fact that he gives it to contributive posts, I think there isn't wrong about this. If you're truly against his application because of that, I think it's only necessary to consider his works.
