When you want to spend your coins, you can sign your transaction with the private key, or simply import the private key to a wallet.

Thank you for your response. Sorry, I did not understand the first part. Without a wallet, how do I sign my transaction with the private key ? I mean, without a wallet, resident or on the web, how do I make a transaction in the first place ?

I understand how it works by importing the private key.

I see many people are complaining about losing their coins from Brainwallet. I have never used it and just read about it here => https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Brainwallet. What I understand that this will give me a Bitcoin Address and Private Key to use. So using the address, I can accept my coins and see on blockchain. But how do I spend them without using any client ? I mean how the whole system of Brainwallet works ? I'm confused. Can anyone please shed some light ?
