I am not a big fan of the Daily Mail. But I don' think that they are any worse off than the other popular British trash, such as The Guardian. All of the major dailies in the UK do have a tarnished reputation. And DM is no different.

Nice strawman argument: You're implying that the Daily Mail is not a joke because other papers sensationalize things too. Fail.

No. I said other papers are not. Quite a big difference. Fail.

Be careful reading the Daily Mail... For people not from the UK: It's basically a joke paper that sensationalizes EVERYTHING and fuels fear and hate among the more suggestible population. Sadly it has the highest circulation of any UK paper...

I wouldn't worry too much about this story - first of all the drugs are not "sex-change" drugs, they are used to inhibit hormones to delay the onset of puberty. They have been used in other applications with no issues. Also the NHS isn't going to start giving these out like candy - as with all "gender dysphoria" issues, I think doctors will be very careful when diagnosing/prescribing.

Absolutely not this.

Joke paper? Compared to ALL other "papers" that sensationalize NOTHING?

What rock have you been living under the past 10-50 years?

Nice strawman argument: You're implying that the Daily Mail is not a joke because other papers sensationalize things too. Fail.

Both you and bryant.coleman have fallen into the classic DM traps here, and have failed to understand the full story.

The Mail does not care about anyone/anything, has no morals, is the epitome of hypocrisy, and relies on pushing the buttons of people like YOU to peddle their fear porn.

http://stephentall.org/2012/04/14/hard-to-believe-shes-just-16-the-headline-that-sums-up-the-morality-of-the-daily-mail/

The classic spread where the DM shows a sexy picture of a 15 yr old Charlotte Church, and opposite has an article complaining about the Brass Eye episode "Paedogeddon", which ironically was taking the piss out of the media's portrayal of paedophiles.

And for shits and giggles here's a collection of all the things the Mail says causes and prevents cancer. Many do both:

Doesn't look that rocky from where I'm standing mate.

"Funny" fact: The lobby organizations that "fight" for homosexual rights also fight for the right to have sex with children. In the 70s or 80s they were more open about it but met too much resistance.

That is an important factor which can't be overlooked. There is a strong link between certain gay rights groups and the pedophilia lobby. Almost all the pedophile groups were actually founded by gay rights groups (for example, Groupe d'Étude sur la Pédophilie was founded by Infor Homosexualitaté) Nowhere it is more evident than it is in the Netherlands. Search about Vereniging Martijn.

At the age of nine the vast majority won't have gone through puberty which has a huge bearing on their sexual preferences. To start giving children of that age "hormone blocker's" is monstrous and is playing more to parents who just happen to think or wanted their child to be of the opposite gender. Many girls are tomboys and many boys don't like playing boy's games but with time grow into the girls and boys they were destined to be.

In any other country, forcing the sex change of a  pre-teen kid would have been classed as a felony. Not in the UK. At this rate, soon Pedophilia and other evils will be legalized in England.

This.
If you're going to read the article do it very carefully.
Also to make yourself a real impression on what kind of news this "paper" usually publishes browse a few titles.

I wound's be worried even if the dailymail says an atomic war has started in urkaine.

The last time I heard the term "England" was at the last World Cup. I thought the EU banned that word for some reason. Cheesy

Too early to say that. The Scottish referendum is only a few months away. If Scotland actually votes for independence, then there won't be much difference between England and what remains of the UK.

I think England is lost for ever. The Pink mafia has taken over all the institutions there. They are aiming for a gender-less society. Soon there will be no males or females in England.  Grin

i guess if it's affect the kid so much that he/she is depressed, it could be a good idea to consider it. if the kid is not so affected by it, then maybe wait? also kids are developing at 9-10 years old, so maybe giving them those drugs gives them more time to develop into the body/appearance that they want.

That's the thing! Children start developing at that age, so both male and female hormones kick in. This might lead to the confusion, as the brain is also controlled by those hormones. dampening or interfering is plain wrong at this stage. It's like throwing a spanner into a car engine, and expect to gently slow down, but not break.

I think most of us are confused at that age. Messing with the hormones of people with developing brains and bodies can't be a good thing.

I agree, dailymail loves to create sensationalized titles to get views. And to take attention away from how the UK government is becoming more authoritarian every day...

Why make such a life changing decision at such a young age. 9 years old!!!! still a child should be playing with friends , toys etc not trying to change sex. why oh why do the NHS proritise such treatment when people who are genuinely ill and need treatement for cancer etc are denied it because it is deemed too expensive. What going to happen in a few years when this child decides they want to be the sex they were actually born !!!

well, i don't know where i stand in this issue but to be fair, how would you feel if you are a 9 year old stuck in a girl's body, when you feel like a boy inside? that can torment you growing up feeling ostracized - like something is wrong with you, and other people keep a distance because of it.

i guess if it's affect the kid so much that he/she is depressed, it could be a good idea to consider it. if the kid is not so affected by it, then maybe wait? also kids are developing at 9-10 years old, so maybe giving them those drugs gives them more time to develop into the body/appearance that they want.
