The OP has a cute poem, but is this some kind of marketing thingy?  I don't get it.  Does he want us to call μbtc a 'zib' or something?  Or is zib his altcoin that he's promoting.  Confusing.
I didn't get it. So, is "Z" a new altcoin or it's just a name for 0.000 001 BTC?
Cause it's cool to have a special name for 0, 000 001 amount of BTC, especially if BTC price would rise

TL;DR: Ƶ = µBTC, it's really just a new unit.

Long story:

More than a month ago I saw that someone else was proposing "zib" as a new name for the unit µBTC. The proposal was just "zib", not "zibcoin".

I liked this idea so much, that I created a new Bitcoin wallet that allows users to display their Bitcoin stash in the unit of "zib" (= µBTC).
Fittingly, I called this wallet software "Zibcoin Core", because it was forked off from Bitcoin Core with the very only change that it would use "zib" as the default unit.
Even more, I presented this new wallet software in the mock style of an altcoin, though of course, it isn't an altcoin.

Also, I recently promoted this idea so much that some people thought it was my idea.
Of course, this isn't my idea.

To give the correct credit: The idea of "zib" was by gojomo, though I think that it actually should be just "Z" (zed), because zed sounds more natural.

Aha, thanks for the clarification and the backstory.  For my own use, I'm happy to just refer to µBTC.  Or, more commonly if I'm speaking of an amount that small, I just refer to Sat or KSat (depending on the amount).  I find the Z/zib thing to be rather irrelevant and while I now understand the story of what you're promoting, I just can't really see the motivation.

Good luck tho.

As an _idea_, I like 'zib' a whole lot better than 'bit'. Mostly due to the overloading issue. But I can't get behind it, due the 'proprietary IP' nature of the domain registrations and stuff. Maybe if the rights to these items could be transferred to the community somehow (though certainly not to either the Bitcoin Foundation, nor Tibanne KK,  nor theymos).

Yes the 'Z-slash' character already has uses. But I've seen no consensus on the use of a given symbol for the 'bit' term.

Speaking of consensus, despite your claims, franky, I've seen nothing that I would term as such.

In the meantime, the silent majority (at lest the one that I posit exists) will go on using microbitcoin, likely abbreviating it as 'mikes'. As the battle for naming rages on, perhaps the victor will be the non-participant Smiley

i think he ruined his chances as soon as he registered domains for it. instantly centralising the trademark to him

secondly the letter Ƶ is alien in regards to bitcoin

thirdly Ƶ has other recognised meanings (debasing his whole argument about 'bit')
Quote
As currency

Ƶ was sometimes used instead of Z to represent the zaire, a former currency of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Ƶ is used as a currency symbol in the video game EVE Online to represent the in-game currency Interstellar Kredits (ISK).

Also, the popular British TV show Doctor Who uses ƶ as the symbol for the unit of money, Galactic Credits

fourthly people will see Ƶ and ponder if it pronounced Zed (euro and canadian) Zee (american) Zib (crypto geeks) causing more confusion

fifthly he tirelessly ignore consensus of most other users that vote on the several polls, almost like a kid being told not to do something, but then doing it anyway.

sixthly by the attitude of point 5 i mentioned, i can see him trying to charge licence fee's for businesses using his word or doing other things for selfishness that goes against a common community agreement.

but i do applaud his efforts, just a shame they are wasted on an idea that already has flaws (in regards to the whole communities view) after only a few days into his campaign

wow klabaki your trying to promote the word zib hard...

just a shame that 99% of the community is not you or else the community would end up using a word you own the trademark of,

so with that said. lets go back to the other 99% and talk about bits as thats the winning word of the week.

but i do applaud your efforts

If this entire project is an elaborate joke on all the threads we've got asking what to call little pieces of bitcoins, and asking to move decimal points along in price quotes and client software, then I'm all for it. Good for a laff.

(IIUC there is no actual new altcoin here? Your bitcoins aren't exchangeable for a million zibs, they just ARE a million zibs.)

Whatever we end up calling it, I'm glad to see that people are favouring microbitcoins as the default unit. That was always my first choice. Hell, it's how I'm doing my accounting with them in Gnucash (although I have to call them BTN for the time being, which are apparently Bhutanese Ngultrums  Undecided)

If zibcoin actually takes off, then the domains, accounts, handles, etc, would be given to the core developers, the foundation, or some other trusted entity.

Or you'd auction them off to the highest bidder...

I'm personally not a fan of the name - it sounds silly and has no real advantage over any other unit of measurement we have for BTC at the moment.

Imagine if zib(coin) was actually universally used in the bitcoin community as the standard unit.  What do you think the brand zibcoin (twitter, facebook, domain, trademark, etc) would be worth?

No worries.

If zibcoin actually takes off, then the domains, accounts, handles, etc, would be given to the core developers, the foundation, or some other trusted entity.

It says "your new favorite altcoin".

That's just silly marketing.  Zibcoin is just another name for Bitcoin.
