This only makes sense if the idea of a ring is to be valuable instead of to represent an engagement/marriage and/or look pretty. Maybe the sort of people that wear grills and bling will be into this? But not as an engagement ring.
They don't advertise it as an engagement ring, but that's what everyone seems to assume it is.

Here are two other places that take bitcoin for engagement rings. There are at least a few more, but these were well established businesses before taking BTC.

At least they do look like decent rings and not some nerd's wet dream. I mean, such a big QR-code has got to be uncomfortable if you wear it on your freaking hand all the time.

I'm what's called a "nerd", and I can truthfully say, with all my nerdiness, that that btc ring looks like Complete Shit.

Ha Cheesy Then this is settled. If even nerds or geeks, to be precise, don't like this thing, then who will?

I don't really get why you would want to get money involved with this?
Money is involved either way.  Diamonds aren't cheap, you know.

At least with a BTC ring you can e.g. use a 2 of 3 multisig wallet, give her a key (telling her it's a 2 of 2!) and keep the third key yourself. Cheesy

And diamond has to resell value. It is just a piece of stone.

Who is responsible for this?

http://thebtcring.com/

Awesome job! Grin

-snip-

But... its ugly! Id prefer a nice ring with two parts of a private key (encrypted ofc) engraved on the inside.

Not sure about you guys but my girlfriend would say no  Tongue

If she says no because of the ring you have a problem, no matter what ring you choose.

As much as I love Bitcoin and Crypto, my wife would not say "Yes" if I proposed to her with that minecraft ring.

She'd probably throw it in ocean, smack me upside the head, then leave me in Aruba when I proposed to her 7 years ago.

Women are silly like that...aesthetics matter to them!   Grin
Hmmm? How is this a minecraft ring? It is just a Bitcoin ring, or rather a ring with a bitcoin address in form of a QR-code.
I find it hard to believe that men don't care for aesthetics. I mean, come on... seriously?
I'm a man that cares for aesthetics. That's the main reason why I wouldn't use this as an engagement ring.

Yeah, I guess the stereotypical man does care about aesthetics to begin with. Otherwise men wouldn't care about the looks of a woman. And true if this was an engagement or wedding ring, best outcome would be 'Oh golly, yeah well.. I'd have said yes, but this thing it kinda ugly, so no thanks"

Well if there were a bitcoin adress with public key with 200 BTCs micro dotted on there, she would probably go on her knee.  Wink

Geekey but fun. {When I see what people do in Las Vegas, nothing is strange anymore} My wife would carry my nuts in a small bag, if I bought her that ring.  Grin Grin

The only bitcoin ring that marries real value and design. Don't store your value in a rock, store it in a block.
I almost died laughing. That is one amazing catch phrase! Sadly my GF wouldn't want such a thing. She just wants a pretty looking ring, how much it costs doesn't matter to her.

I don't care that much for diamonds, either. But at least they're considered beautiful by a majority of people. This thing looks rather clunky Cheesy
Oh and cheating your spouse at the time of the marriage isn't a very good foundation for a long-lasting relationship, I guess  Grin Grin

That's a pretty geeky idea, I gotta say... I mean, yeah, I guess some people may want exactly that and it gets the attention of everybody interested in Bitcoin. But a regular ring is just a symbol for the love between two people. I don't really get why you would want to get money involved with this?
