Who would have thought that trying to donate money to a good cause would be met with so much suspicion and hostility?

Maybe because millionaires do not come to this forum and offer money just like that, and there is no reason why

Seen one billionaire that was giving millions to random gofundme campaigns.  Things like this do happen, I mean there are thousands of billionaires in the world and lots of people worth over 10 million.  They have more than enough money for 10 lifetimes, might as well give some away you know.

I am a music therapist and have found it to be the most healing technique you can provide for people of all ages.
I would like to start a foundation for music therapy for the following

1. All school age children
2. Kids and adults of all ages with special needs
3. Adults with varying conditions, emotionally, or physically

Who would have thought that trying to donate money to a good cause would be met with so much suspicion and hostility?

If you are a fraud it would be quickly comprehended when you start asking for money..to temporarily cover your own money, currently unavailable. 😄

But I thank you for reaching out and your efforts to be generous.

Contact me please.

I don't think this user is trying to scam, but he is very likely trolling and has no intention of sending his money anywhere. Also, would you send me money if I asked for it under the guise of helping a charity? You shouldn't unless I provide pretty good proof that the money will get to where I say it will and even then I'd still be suspicious. Dozens of users/scammers come here just to try collect money for charity when in most instances it will go straight into their pocket. We actually get waves of these spammers every time a natural disaster happens and they're just trying to prey on users goodwill and take advantage of human misery/tragedy to enrich themselves and it doesn't get much lower than that. We also have no reason to believe any money sent to you will go anywhere other than yourself and that's why we shouldn't just trust random people on the internet because this board is rife with unscrupulous characters who literally would steal from charity if they could.

Maybe because millionaires do not come to this forum and offer money just like that, and there is no reason why we should believe that this is truth, until proven otherwise. Some others have suggested (including me) that OP is sign message with at least part of his wealth, publicly or privately to someone of trusted members. This has not happened so far, and there is no one in this forum who can confirm that he has got donation from OP.

I also check OP Reddit post, and there the situation is identical - he post some 6 months ago and not a single user is say thanks for your donation or anything like that.

Since you ask for help, feel free to post here in the event of something positive.

?  You can look up the net worth amount on every famous actor, athlete, and businessman.   No reason to live like a hermit because a few outlier events that happen.  Do you see people like Vitalik or Roger Ver being kidnapped or attacked? No you don't, stop being so paranoid, that is no way to live life.
Many many of this people above u mentioned got their earning public anyway. Even when they won't disclose exact amount you know they have millions of $ for example. Second group of people you mentioned are people that disclose that information to get something from it. Look im wealthy man, so i know what im saying or im successful so listen to me etc.

Not everyone who's rich is a famous person. You also don't know about the precautions (if any) Vitalik or Ver are taking. They're also famous enough that it wouldn't be a smart idea trying to kidnap them as more resources would likely be devoted to find someone known.

I have been quite fortunate in life. I've always been super interested in new technology which led me getting involved in bitcoin in 2010. I obtained a substantial amount and made quite a bit from it. I'm currently worth $26 million, My finances are $2million in cash and bonds., $10million in stocks, and the remaining in bitcoin which is around $14million in current prices. I'm already an old person so the $2million in cash and bonds is more than enough to last me for the rest of my life.

I've been able to buy everything I have ever wanted and knowing that I'm not getting any younger I would like to give back to society. I don't have any children and no living family members so I'm 100 % sure I want to donate the majority of my wealth to good causes. I have done a lot of research on charities but I'm also looking for suggestions for smaller foundations and lesser known causes

I want to hear what causes are close to your heart.  I already posted in some other places but want to hear your suggestions on how this wealth will be best used before my time is past.
Good to see still we have some good souls on this earth. Smiley

I don't know much of the charities online but personally lot of people ask me for something and I will help them as much as I can whenever I got the opportunity so if you are seeing someone then give some money.

You also can look for charities on your locale and research about them before donating because most of them will be scammers.

Simple as that, be careful here Wink

Thats pretty cool OP, unfortunately there are a lot of negative people on this forum that can't imagine anyone would do anything out of kindness.  Usually it is a reflection of themselves because they can't imagine even giving a dollar away of their money.

I don't think questioning what some random person on the internet says is negative. If someone wants to give to charity then there are thousands of charities that they can donate to but there's no need to make a song and dance about it and I think that's what people are questioning and I think it's being logical to do so. Call me cynical if you wish but this looks like a complete attention seeking troll post and I'm not surprised people are saying it also looks like a Nigerian scam email. As they say Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Maybe Bill Gates will sign up here sometime asking for advice on what charities to donate to. If he did I don't think people would be amiss if they didn't believe that Billy Boy was looking to give away some funds. If op wanted to prove us all wrong he could easily do so but I doubt he will and until then I'll remain cynical of his true intentions.

You probably gonna find a lot of places to donate money.
What we (me and my wife) do after we got our first kid is to donate money to kids with health issues.

There is nothing better than to give a sick innocent child a chance to live.
You gonna feel much better (worthy as a human being)  after that, trust me.

Our cases we find on the TV,  because I now they are true stories. There are so many kids waiting for expensive live saving treatments.

You say you got most of your fortune from Bitcoin, so I would think that it would be the most appropriate thing to "Pay it forward" to the technology that gave you that fortune.  Wink

If it was me, I would make it exciting and I will launch a competition for the person or group who can make a video of their project on how to promote Bitcoin to the masses.  Wink

A $1 000 000 prize for the best project, will get massive attention from the media and that in it self will be beneficial to everyone. Hire a small team of people to do the marketing and adverticements on social media and pay them in Bitcoin.  Wink

As long as OP doesn't ask for funds from us.... I guess it doesn't matter if we believe in him or not xD

OP, you can donate to some charities specially those who are dealing with kids and cancer and their welfare, schooling, education and providing them with a very good life.

As you mentioned, you don't have much time, nothing would feel better than to donate to a cause that nurtures fighter kids that is fighting for their lives striving for a better life.

If theres a God, he will not be happier. And you will get forever blessings and prayers from the parents of the kids even when you pass away.

I hope if you are true, you donate it to some good causes that involves the most innocent and defenseless of the society Smiley

@Emancipation of Mimi: to take away all doubt: can you sign a message from a Bitcoin address that holds a considerable amount? If you're legit, it sucks being questioned like this, but unfortunately people make up all kinds of stories for all kinds of reasons.

If you don't know how to sign a message, see How to sign a message?!.
If you don't want to expose your Bitcoin address in public, you're welcome to send me a PM and I'll vouch for whatever you sign without publishing the address.

Ok, that links the Reddit account and the Bitcointalk account, although it’s understandably nearly impossible to believe this to be a true story, and I for one am particularly weary of this sort of stories.

If it were true, to add credibility and get proper focus answers, it would be interesting to see some proof without doxing yourself. On the other hand, if you’re simply trolling, then there is nothing to prove to begin with.

(*) BTC on the date of publishing the Reddit post was around 3798 $. On the date of your post on Bitcointalk (yesterday) it was something like 9917 $. That means that 8M$ in BTC at the time of posting on Reddit should be something like 20,8 M$ (not 14 M$ stated in the OP).

This is quite close to my heart. I try donating to Akshay Patra whenever I have something to spare.

The Akshay Patra. If you watch this video, you cannot stop yourself from giving something to them. A mere $20 can help in feeding a poor hungry child for a year.

I think you can be of great help to them. A very minuscule portion of your wealth can impact a vast audience through this initiative. If you need more help in knowing about the initiative or connecting with the authorities of this foundation, feel free to DM me and I will arrange for all meetings.

But,..... then he or "his" "lawyer" will contact you asking for contract "legislation" fees e.t.c.. "before releasing funds"  If you will pay that "fees" you will never hear from that dude again. And I absolutely wouldn’t want to compromise my privacy and security by signing messages or publishing my BTC address for the sake of getting believed by some random dudes in a cryptocurrency forum.

What kind of privacy and security are you talking about? He is not make his account on this forum with his real name, address or with something like that, so signing message would not endanger anything. Unless you think our two admins would check his IP address (if he is not using TOR, VPN) and made a great effort to find him and take his coins from him Roll Eyes

Maybe someone is able to connect an address with his real identity and perhaps OP would prefer to keep to himself his intentions of donating his bitcoins, or to whom he would donate them. There are many legitimate reasons why someone would want to compartmentalize their identities.

Have you seen the Pineapple Fund? If not, it's a good start to see what someone who donated 5104 BTC did with his money.
To be taken serious, he started with a signed message. That proves ownership of the funds. People make up all sorts of claims without being able to back them up.

since you love bitcoin and you claim to have amassed your wealth because of it maybe you could start donating to different bitcoin-related projects
I like this suggestion. Coindesk has a recent article on Bitcoin Core funding, which has always been a bit of a problem. Miners take the money, not developers.

Maybe you can try to donate your $1 million of money (or more) to various crowdfunding projects. In my country, there is some crowdfunding website such as KitaBisa, where anyone can list their project, funding target and so on. I bet you can nearly help all project listed here with ease.

You could also send that money to help open source development of some projects. Bitcoin was already mentioned, so I guess you can also donate to Linux, Krita, or other open source projects which most of the time lacks funding. You can also 'donate' that money via Patreon to artist/anyone which product something that you supports or like. You can also donate it to a social business foundation run by Muhammad Yunus.

Note: I'm not related to any business or services I've mentioned above. However, I did use or contribute to those sites once in a while. Do your own research, never forget it.

Hi, I've had the hardest life ever. I've hardly gotten things I've wanted and my clothes were torn with bad shoes while I walked around in radiation... I've been been through hell and poverty. I've never gotten up except once, when I was selling marijuana, which lead me to riches but eventually one person who was on heroine ratted me out and destroyed my family and my empire.
I'm not that nice.
I figured I would be one to say, "hey. can you help me?" it's up to you..
I've been poisoned, beaten, stolen from, pushed away, jailed while innocent, jobs ignore, I was jobless for 6 years until I landed on something else which barely gets me by as I've waited 6 months to buy a 1400$ piece of equipment (enduro).
But then I found/rediscovered bitcoin... I am so excited about this, I hope I can make millions... I've watched so many people go through money and I've had nothing...
God is kind.
We are still here.
I would like to purchase an expensive antminer (for 3-4K) and begin mining BCH.
Can you help me with this?
Thanks!
I've always wanted to start my own business and would be upfront in paying you back for anything you've helped me with later if you accept.
I hate to be a leech and I could have typed this better a few years ago.
But thank you for this.

Maybe you should actually read my post, I'm not asking for anything.  i've come to accept the very real fact that I don't have many years left to live.
