I like to think about it this way... a lot of people are looking for $BTC <$3 or whatever. And market maker will try to screw their positions and will increase the price. So if a lot of people are waiting for bitcoin under 3000 we will not see it there.
Now the price for BTC has started to grow and I doubt that this year the price will fall below $ 3000.
