It seems that the system will prompt you, the address is incorrect, you can not send Bitcoin, if the system does not prompt, then your cryptocurrency will be lost, I hope you can learn this lesson, should reduce this operation error.

Like others said you will get an error message while click send transaction or you will lose your bitcoin or ethereum completely when it comes from an exchange and the exchange will take all your funds.

Correct on the first part but completely wrong on the second part.

If you withdraw from an exchange and it is a wrong format, the exchange should work just like your wallet and recognize that the format is wrong. However, if the format is correct (like sending BTC to BCH), then the exchange will process it automatically anyway and the funds will be in the new BTC address same as BCH.

If BTC is sent to an ETH address, what will happen to the BTC? Will the BTC reach the address and wallet? Or definitely lost?

If lost, how to retrieve the BTC?

Cannot retrieve the bitcoin that you sent to the ETH address. Your BTC will burn, just as you send ERC20 in an ETH exchange wallet. Your coins will disappear. This is based on the description of each exchange that I use.

I think you will not be able to make transactions. It is possible that the system will notify you of an invalid address and you need to check it again

I think people confuse the address of the btc wallet and the omni-usdt wallet address. It is difficult to confuse the btc and eth wallet addresses because they are not the same, when sending money, they will be sent an error that cannot be sent.

You will not be able to send BTC to the ETH address. But if suddenly you succeed (by some miracle) - the funds will be lost. Transactions in the Bitcoin network are irreversible.

It will definitely lose and cannot be refunded. That is one of the functions of Blockchain. Only transactions are possible and cannot be refunded if you enter the wrong address.
So be careful in making transactions. You need to check it carefully before doing it.

Did you actually tried before asking the question ? I think it won't be possible because the length
of bitcoin address and ethereum address are different each other.
On most crypto exchanges, you cannot withdraw your BTC to ETH address wallet.

Obviously, the OP hasn't tried this one, maybe he/she is just asking hypothetical questions here. But majority here knows that it's not possible because of the formats and someone even shows that it can't be done.

The address formats are not the same so you can't do that.
Your software wallet should raise an error, and if it doesn't do that, I think it will convert your ethereum address in a random exotic btc address and your funds will be lost.  Undecided

Yeah right, but it depends on the wallet used, sometimes the wallet has a system to detect coin addresses. They have a format for each coin address and will send an error message when the user enters the wrong address format. But it will be disastrous if the wallet does not have this system, funds may be sent to the random address you mentioned and will lose all funds sent.

I think still using the recommended wallet, such as Electrum, Trezor, etc. They have a detection system at every coin address.

If you are dealing with different far away blockchains in terms of algorithm, the transaction will not be executed, except they have close algorithm, for instance, you are dealing with the wallets of a coin and its form, then there is every likelihood you lose the fund. In your own case, the transaction will not at all be executed.

The point is it's not really possible to send BTC to ETH address or ETH to BTC address, ETH address is always 40 characters alphanumerics and BTC address is less than 40 characters, at the point of confirming address before sending BTC to ETH address, u should get error of wallet address. I hope this helps out

But beware that transferring from a BTC address to a BCH format address is possible as they have the same address format as BCH is a fork from Bitcoin.
I believe if anyone mistakenly do this and wants to recover the BTC then they can.

That's why you need to use Exchanges to buy coins from another blockchain.
I did not get it. I can buy BCH from anyone if I want and so can I do for BTC too.

You can't make a transfer from a BTC address to an ETH address. They are not on the same blockchain and they don't have the same address format.

But you are only sending the coins to the BTC blockchain. That's why you need to use Exchanges to buy coins from another blockchain.

That’s not possible, there should be error on that kind of transaction but if its already approved or what then its already a lost to you. Everything that is transacted on blockchain can’t be edited, so always take care on putting addresses.
You can just simply look a post above you and it will all clear mate because he actually show the result here

To give you the answer I tried with Electrum and this is what I found:

So the summary is - you can not send BTC to an ETH address.
And I believe this will happen though I never tried once sending btc to eth wallet

It will not disappear, because the BTC wallet format will not respond if you enter the ETH wallet address. When you enter the ETH wallet address and you send it will say 'Your wallet address is wrong'.
Unless you send BTC to the BTC address, but there are one or two numbers that are wrong on the BTC address, then BTC will be sent, and it will be lost, then it cannot be returned to the base wallet.
So don't think about sending BTC to ETH address, then BTC will change to ETH, or vice versa. Sending a token (erc20) to an ETH address will also not change to ETH. They have their own code.
But if you send an ERC20 token to any ETH address, the transaction process is successful. But it cannot be returned, because the ETH address does not have a key.
it can be identified through seeing how many characters of the address but when OP is still using an old version of the wallet and that will not available and that's why we are talking about the possibility of that case here. A coin sent to the different blockchain will totally disappear or got burned.

You cannot send any other assets to ETH address if they are not ERC-20 based tokens, otherwise you will lose your money. The same is with BTC address, where only BTC coins are accepted and no other crypto assets.
