Both Computers on Tails OS - Does it change anything?
Not particularly... but it does make the chance of "malware" being the root cause of this issue less likely (by a large factor)... assuming that Tails was setup, and is being used, correctly.

Are you using persistence with Tails? Or do you recreate the wallet by entering the seed each time? Huh

If you're recreating it each time you run, it's possible that you used a different seed, copied an address from that wallet... and are now "restoring" a different seed/wallet.
If you're using persistence, it's possible you have multiple wallet files and simply copied an address from a different wallet. Click "File -> Open" and see how many wallet files are shown in your "wallets" folder.

Running on Tails OS if that makes any difference - screened against copy / paste malware and came back negative, any suggestions welcome.

Do both computers run Tails OS or just the one where the coins were supposed to show up? Did the sender verify the address before broadcasting the transaction?

Do what HCP told you above and look for your address on the list. Alternatively, go to View -> Show Console, then select the Console tab, run ismine('bc1q2vl6x8y9rcntq00y3fvc77unlwg5sqlu2xtvn6') and see what it return (true or false?). If it returns false, run wallet.change_gap_limit(100) and the first command again (the "ismine" one). See what it returns.

Check your Electrum version first and post it here because if it is 3.38 version you are using a fake Electrum wallet.
Pretty sure he meant 3.3.8, which is the latest version. Fake version or not, this has nothing to do with it.

Thank you - will run this when I get a chance and report back.

Copy and pasted - bc1q2vl6x8y9rcntq00y3fvc77unlwg5sqlu2xtvn6 - address from receiving section of intended wallet but no sign of it in the addresses section of that same wallet.

Definitely a Typo - running 3.3.8 Both sides.

Address that actually received the BTC is not showing up in Addresses part of intended wallet - any possibility address updated itself in that time and subsequently bounced the transfer into a holding wallet?

Open Electrum wallet from which you copied the receiving address, select Console tab and enter the following command. If you can't see the console, enable it by selecting 'View -> Show Console'.

ismine("bc1q2vl6x8y9rcntq00y3fvc77unlwg5sqlu2xtvn6")

If it returns false then one of the computers might have been infected with some kind of malware.

What do you mean by saying you can't access it? Funds have been moved to that address already.
From where did you get the receiving address (bc1q2vl6x8y9rcntq00y...vc77unlwg5sqlu2xtvn6)? Do you have the seed used to generate this address (12 words)?

Receiving address was copied and pasted from intended wallet into a privnote and sent by email to Sender - Sender then did the same from email to the send part of their wallet.

There was maybe a 2 hour lapse between this being copied from intended wallet and sender accessing // using address.

Address that actually received the BTC is not showing up in Addresses part of intended wallet - any possibility address updated itself in that time and subsequently bounced the transfer into a holding wallet?

We have seeds for the 2 original wallets involved - how can we check if those will work with the mystery wallet?

Many thanks

This part of the title is just bugging me: "into unexpected wallet"
So you knew that that address doesn't belong to your Electrum wallet?
OP thinks that his Bitcoins ended up in a completely different wallet than he intended to send them to. But he said that he copied the address from his own wallet. Since he doesn't see them in his software he thinks they ended up elsewhere, hence the weird subject line. But the coins are in fact on that address and have been there for 25 days.

I am sure he is not using a fake wallet since that address has never received other coins before or after his transaction, and the coins are still unspent.
What he needs to do now is figuring out what is wrong with his Electrum and why is it not displaying the correct balance, if the bc1q2vl6x8y9rcntq00y3fvc77unlwg5sqlu2xtvn6 address is part of his wallet.

Can you follow this guide (by Abdussamad) to confirm if your installer/executable is legit: https://bitcoinelectrum.com/how-to-verify-your-electrum-download/?

Does it seem someone here has the same issue(Related case) with the same version 3.38 from here?
vovven already confirmed that it's a typo in this post.
But yes, it's best to check if OP is using the real electrum.

Sending from a electrum 3.38 2fa to 3.38 normal.

Are you sure about the version of Electrum you use? 3.38?

So, I think you are using 3.38 not a 3.3.8 am I right? If yes, then your Bitcoins are gone and there's no way to recover it.

If you click on the "Addresses" tab (might need to use "View -> Show Addresses" to see the tab)... do you see the bc1q2vl6x8y9rcntq00y3fvc77unlwg5sqlu2xtvn6 address in the list of addresses shown? Huh

If you do, then chances are that it's a network issue of some description and the wallet just hasn't synced properly. If you don't then it's possible that you've copy/pasted the wrong address Undecided

Where exactly did you copy that address from within Electrum? Was it from the "Receive" tab?

Is your Electrum wallet online and synchronized? Do the menu bar says "watching only"?
Please provide more details so we can help you.

Should I just keep trying alt servers?

There's no harm in doing so, but if it didn't work after a few times then I don't think if there's any point. A blue dot indicates that you are using some kind of proxy. Check 'Proxy' tab next to the 'Server' and make sure that it's unchecked. Also, take a look at the 'Overview' tab and please tell us what is the value of 'Blockchain' after you have checked your proxy settings. It should be something around 624341 blocks right now.

By 'watch only' I mean a wallet exporer yes

What can you see in the bottom-right corner of Electrum? A red or a green dot? You can try connecting to a different server in Electrum. Give it a moment to synchronize with the network.

Copied above adress from my wallet and gave to sender but it still isn't showing -  looks as if it might have forked // segmented.

The transaction has been confirmed on the Bitcoin blockchain; no issues here. You can see it on this block explorer.

We can see the 0.52433 in a watch only wallet - it has not moved and is the only transaction in said wallet but not sure how to access.

By a watch-only wallet you mean the receiving Electrum wallet or some kind of block explorer?
