Maybe they're dumping because the wallet isnt even syncing. Not with correct peers, not with correct conf. Atleast it should scare alot if not all new investors.  Roll Eyes

Why not start over from scratch?

- Backup your wallet.dat file.

- Delete entire BitcoinDark folder from AppData->Roaming

- Run bitcoindark-qt.exe

- add the BitcoinDark.conf from OP to Appdata->Roaming->Bitcoindark folder

- Restart bitcoindark-qt.exe

- It might sit there for 30 minutes doing nothing before it starts syncing

Ive did all this over and over. Its just not working.

You had quite a few coin huh CrazyNewb?  By my estimation, that's close to 5k coins you've offloaded recently.  I'm curious why you wait for the price to drop before you sell Huh.  So far though, with the nice rise in UNITY, it's working to your advantage Smiley

That dump wasn't me.

Just for fun, I calculated some numbers from BITCOINDARK (BTCD) RICH LIST – TOP 500 (http://explorebtcd.info/bitcoindark-btcd-rich-list-top-500/)

Here's some numbers as of 12/21/2014 10:00 PM EST:

- Total number of BTCD : 1196483.84897169

- Amount in the Richest BTCD Wallet : 70703.08461362 (5.90923853 % of Total BTCD)

- Sum Amount in the Top 3 Richest BTCD Wallets : 148386.17967444 (12.40185397 % of Total BTCD)

- Sum Amount in the Top 10 Richest BTCD Wallets : 314404.72249349 (26.2773896 % of Total BTCD)

- Sum Amount in the Top 25 Richest BTCD Wallets : 516369.06835077 (43.15721176 % of Total BTCD)

- Sum Amount in the Top 50 Richest BTCD Wallets : 725975.85766507 (60.6757758 % of Total BTCD)

- Sum Amount in the Top 100 Richest BTCD Wallets : 944918.99597922 (78.97465534 % of Total BTCD)

- Sum Amount in the Top 500 Richest BTCD Wallets : 1187075.64221826 (99.21367875 % of Total BTCD)

And below are how other coins' rich lists look like:

BTC
https://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-bitcoin-addresses.html

LTC
https://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-litecoin-addresses.html

DOGE
https://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-dogecoin-addresses.html

PeerCoin
https://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-ppcoin-addresses.html

DC
https://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-darkcoin-addresses.html

Hope you enjoy this! Smiley

Your work is appreciated, hover I hope most people understand that 'rich lists' are meaningless.  Anyone with a large amount of coins can (and should/does) distribute them across smaller wallets.  99% of the largest wallets are not owned by individuals but belong to exchanges, mining pools, or payment processors, etc...  This applies to all altcoins, LTC, DOGE, DC, ZET, etc..

http://faucet.securepayment.cc/btcd/  ... doesn't pay out anymore?

Looks like the transaction fees drained the faucet.  Currently working on a fix.  ETA is about 2 weeks.

Why would this work? Ive tried leaving it open for like 1 or 2 hours, with no result..

just leave it open for 10 hours  Cool

yea, once i had to leave a wallet open for 5hrs to find any connections, after that every restart of the wallet got instant connections.
with BTCD i never had problems tho, but it guess you have one of those moments Smiley

I have no active firewall. I tried deleting peers.dat. Ive also tried the BitcoinDark.conf from the OP aswell as copying only the addnode values from the OP to my BitcoinDark.conf. Still 0 active connections. ive never had something like this before. All other wallets are running fine  Huh

And you are handling cryptocurrency with this kind of security system ?

Yes, for over a year now. Still no problems. All my wallets are encrypted with strong passwords and my accounts with 2FA.

Don't matter if you have a rootkit installed on your computer they can just change your DNS calls. And you will lose your coins with a middleman attack.

Meh I just want to know how to get my wallet connected actually. Thanks for the warning though.

Make sure your firewall isn't being a problem. I've posted these before:

addnode=ps00.bitcoindark.ca
addnode=ps01.bitcoindark.ca
addnode=ps02.bitcoindark.ca
addnode=ps03.bitcoindark.ca
addnode=ps04.bitcoindark.ca
addnode=ps05.bitcoindark.ca
addnode=ps06.bitcoindark.ca
addnode=ps07.bitcoindark.ca
addnode=ps08.bitcoindark.ca
addnode=ps09.bitcoindark.ca

Should work in a jiffy.

Having same problem with wallet. Tried with and w/o conf file. No peers or connections whatsoever

I have ran the same wallet on several computers and had similar problems.
I exactly followed the instruction, but ended up failing at syncing.
I succeeded by copying the exact files from my other rig which was successfully syncing.
But above option is not available for many new BTCDers.
I suggest dev making installer which will set up syncing conf file.
The single biggest problem that cause online retailers to lose money is simple failures during check out.
I think we might lose many new BTCDers due to frustrations while syncing their wallets.
I know many people help newcomers setting up, but it would be nicer if there's a simpler way.

The upcoming BitcoinDark wallet will automatically create a BitcoinDark.conf file with some known peers and a strong random password.

Matthew

Will users still be able to manually create their own passwords with the new wallet?

98,006

Sure. What it currently does is check if BitcoinDark.conf exists or not. If it doesn't, it creates a new one with a few fields such as addnode, rpcuser and password, etc. and fill them in.

To create your own password, just change the rpcpassword field to whatever you like.

Matthew

Ok so what you guys are saying is basically.... Deal with it and wait for new wallet? I cannot get access to my coins ?
the new wallet wont fix any connectivity issues you are having.
I think you just need to addnode the right nodes, just a few good ones are better than a lot of them
try deleting peers.dat

so make sure you are exited, delete peers.data and start again

if that doesnt work, then change the BitcoinDark.conf file to use just a few good nodes, which others can post about which ones they are
