I'm looking to set up a VPS for the SuperNET/BTCD network. Does anyone have a good recommendation for which company to go for? Perhaps paying with BTC, though not essential. Otherwise Ubuntu, 2Gb RAM are the only requirements.
There are a lot of options out there but I think a few shady companies too so if anyone has had a good experience with one (particularly for this) let me know.

http://www.cinipac.com/
https://www.infiumhost.com/
http://rack33.com/
http://shinjiru.com/

They all accept BTC as payment.

I can recommend http://www.cinipac.com/
No problems and easy to use.

Thanks, will take a look.

Is their an estimated on what BTCD is earnd with x amount of hash power would be nice to have some sort of status on the site

Would like to know also

There is no calculator. There is only history. There are too many factors to actually create an accurate calculator. If I was to create one, I would have to deal with every bob, dick and harry saying the calculator said I'd make more and demand compensation! I don't have the time for that type of support, so there are 2 ways to give you an idea:

The global history:

And the payment history of my miners:

And that is why people should stop using Google, Facebook, Twitter and everything around. There is ONLY one reason that these companies excists and that is BIGDATA storage.

In my country we have a Privacyguru (privacyguru.nl) who wrote an article about what these companies and their data can do in the future. It is written in Dutch, so sorry for that, but it is a very strong article in what these companies have in hands to rule the world. Specially in politics.

He wrote it long time before Snowden came with his stories. http://www.privacyguru.nl/2012/08/informatie-is-kennis-kennis-is-macht/

I don't know why i specially paste it in here, but it is a reaction on Bitinvestor and the danger of surveilance has now a days.

I really hope people wake up and that they understand that you are not a human, but a product for these companies. Fight for your privacy is a must.

Here's a very good (but somewhat lengthy) article about how well the people in Berlin understand the danger that mass surveilance poses to the world:

Quote
It used to be an obvious fundamental difference between a democratic state and a dictatorial one that you don’t investigate someone until they did a criminal act. Innocent people are not surveiled. And in this, the difference between how a democratic state acts and how a totalitarian one acts has diminished.

Quote
All information can be used against you in some way. And we have an entire generation, the first one ever, about whom everything will be known. Their entire youth is being monitored. And we don’t know what that might mean. How that might be used against them.

had to figure out how to index into DB with duplicates properly, and also add in special cases to the DHT to support InstantDEX orderbooks.

finally got most of this solved, just need to verify it works properly.

The method is as follows:

A. an orderbook bid or ask is submitted using the standard DHT store and this is processed normally.

B. as this is processed, various nodes do a localstore into the public.db on their HDD. When this is done, the raw data is checked to see if it is an InstantDEX quote and if it is, an automatic update is triggered. This update allows one bid and one ask per account, which has the effect of preventing the orderbook stuffing.

At this point, the node that is closest to the key value of (baseid ^ relid) will have an up to date orderbook and the normal orderbook function should display it properly.

Of course, this does no good for most all people, so we also need to support returning the full orderbook via DHT findvalue call. The problem is that there is no automatic way to know if a key value is for an InstantDEX orderbook. So, using a similar method to overloading the findnode command with a datastr, I added a datastr to findvalue. This would just be the "orderbook" API command, which needed to have an "oldest" field added. what that allows is for the nodes that have data to send back to filter it so only the new data is sent.

When this is all debugged, all nodes will be able to get an up to date orderbook as quickly as a DHT command can be processed. Now, even if this is taking 10+ seconds, odds are that the same accounts are having the best offers and really that is the most important as the exact trade matching is done peer to peer.
