question so one machine I have doesn't seem to be staking ( ubuntu ) and the other does (windows-qt)

ubuntu dameon
{
    "Enabled" : true,

    "Current Block Size" : 2827,
    "Current Block Tx" : 5,
    "Pooled Tx" : 5,
    "Difficulty" : 0.00030012,
    "Search Interval" : 1,
    "Weight" : 0,
    "Net Stake Weight" : 22487,
    "Expected Time" : -1
}

win-qt
{
"Enabled" : true,
"Staking" : true,
"Errors" : "",
"Current Block Size" : 3326,
"Current Block Tx" : 9,
"Pooled Tx" : 9,
"Difficulty" : 0.00029175,
"Search Interval" : 1,
"Weight" : 491,
"Net Stake Weight" : 22644,
"Expected Time" : 2767
}

what is the time expectation ? one is 2 hours old the other is from launch.

The 2 hour old TX is not staking because the coins have not accumulated enough coin age, or maturity. The average time to start staking according to the front page is 12 hours. The TX from launch is staking because the coins have matured. Well, if you take 2 from 12, that gives you about 10 hours left until you begin to stake. Since many people are staking however, the time to an actual reward will more than likely be longer than that, probably 12-24 hours, depending on your luck and stake weight.

Guys we have an important announcement to do (nothing that could affect your mining or earnings, do not worry Wink Wink )

We (CryptoSkills Team) received just now an ask for help from a Guy that is in bad economic situation asking for public help in this thread: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.7875072 .

We as CryptoSkills Team decided (after looking at his profile and private infos) to help him, cause we are thinking he's genuine.

For this reason we will donate to him our Pool's Fees from now to the next 12 Hours!

We are gratefull to all the miners that supported our pool with BTCD mining, we earned a "discrete" (around 400 BTCD) amount so we feel that we can donate some of our earnings to help somebody who seems really needing that.

This will NOT absolutely affect YOUR earnings, cause WE ARE DONATING ONLY OUR POOL FEES TO HIM!

We would just like to inform you all that mining at our pool will contribute to help this (we hope so) genuine guy, in a bad situation.

Thanks!

Man the order buying book is fucking huge than the selling.

24 BTC Buy order compared to 3 BTC sell order. What a great coin. Sud have started mining from the beginning.

Apex was in a similar situation about 24 hours ago, yet it couldn't push past 3K.  Huge buy support but buyers not willing to commit.  I think interest tapered off due to low volume.

I feel the same will happen with BTCD if volume doesn't start increasing.  We need a good increase in volume to create a little panic in the market before the market looses interest.

Is the dev still active?
Re-reading some posts, I'm just curious how this will work when implementing the anon features and future of this coin as it states in the ann post that it'll be community driven. I respect the idea, but I just want to be clear on the dev's intentions. Based on his/her past post history it seems they're genuinely interested in making a quality coin and everything has gone well so far, but I'm a little bit wary based on the comment about them not being a technical dev. Is that hinting that the work may have to be done by community members and those interested in the coin?
Hello!

I am part of BTCD community now and I happen to be developing a cryptonote fork to add anon features to NXT. It turns out that my methods should apply to BTCD also. I will be working on integrating cryptonote tech into BTCD, but it is more than "just" cryptonote anon tech as I am also making my solution include a near realtime exchange (InstantDEX) so people can directly trade just by running the coin.

How will all this work you ask?
https://github.com/jl777/pNXT has the current source code and it is rapidly being developed.

Once InstantDEX is done, I will be adding Privatebet (peer to peer sportsbook) to the pNXT framework, plus the way it is implemented there is no reason any other number of useful services cant be added.

My efforts are in parallel with all the other BTCD coders and I try to design a clever way to integrate to require minimal changes to the BTCD codebase. So, if I succeed, then all the peoples selling at current prices will not be so happy.
There is no reason that other anon tech in BTCD can't combine with the cryptonote tech, in fact pushing tx through two independent anon algos would only help if it is done properly. So, I bring very good news to BTCD and now I expect a massive in increase in the FUD level Smiley

James

P.S. I am not so active on BTT, but you can find out more about me on NXT forums and jl777.org

Great to have you onboard James!

Exciting times ahead!

Great news!

Do you have an expected timeline for implementation.
It is never possible for accurate timeline for things that have never been done before.
This certainly qualifies as "never been done before"
That being said, I am fulltime+ (100+ hrs per week) on this and I do code pretty fast, so I hope to be done by end of summer with initial release

Also, the amount of people who help test can really accelerate the timeframes, especially with network stuff, I literally cant create the real world scenarios that a half dozen active testers can.

Currently, things are "early alpha"

Wow, that's crazy! There must be some serious BTC miners who swung their hash to BTCD.
