Thanks for your time and these honest thoughts.

@Kemarit i will implement SSL but honestly SSL is not needed for this website, because there is no registration; password protected system etc.

I agree but it would be better if you can add it in the future. You know that everyone here in crypto world is paranoid about security, IMHO.

Just take small steps buddy, it will grow overtime, perhaps you just need a few SEO to put your website somewhere in page one of Google so that more people will contribute. Content will definitely come but it will take months and months. Just continue to work on it on your free time and you wouldn't notice that the site is growing already. So Goodluck!!!!

OK your site looks like shit but it has potential. But without SSL, security freaks like me won't even touch your site.

It's like Kemarit said. Everyone in crypto world is paranoid about security.

Besides that, I would be looking forward to see how this turns out. GL

The website itself looks promising but the main thing is the website is really not yet ready to be shown to the masses yet since its lacking content. Right now I only see direct websites from some forum sites including Bitcointalk and some altcoin websites in the POW folder. From what I know the forum already created a lot of topics related to lists on services and websites that accepts Bitcoin and I know it will instantly help you. You just need to find it and of course screen the services listed in the list since some of them might not be working already or is a scam website. Just keep in mind that if your website grows you must never forget to be organized on where you are putting those websites and services on so users won't get lost.

I know it's empty and i'm going to grow it myself but as a human being, i still have faith that some people will contribute anyway Smiley I don't have any problem about organizing; i'm in cryptocurrency nearly from the first years so it will be a pleasure instead of pain to put website to right categories.

Thank you for your thought and time. Don't hasitate to share your ideas. Ideas are the only important thing for evolving.

@coolindark

Good, I'd personally also remove the HYIP/Doubler/etc section, that really brings down the reputation of your website.
You'll just end up promoting scams and legitimate businesses may avoid you because of it.

Yes, you are right; i was thinking the same thing and troubling about removing or not because even it's a scam, there are lot of intrest about them. It's good thing to see a clear opinion so i'm going to remove it.

Are you planning to add some services to your directory yourself?
If you have to wait until other people start adding their own websites, it could take a long time before your website is actually useful.

I'm planning already, however i need some good free time to fill it up.

Thanks for your time and these honest thoughts.

@Docnaster There is no storm my friend, this is nothing. I have a forum already and dealing at least 100 fake registrations daily basis. About the website look, i was planning to create website with WP based actually but i'm very busy with my other projects and Arfoo is a great directory service which needs nearly "0" maintenance, all in one and very very fast due to minimal page & code size. Also; this infrastructure is very fast if you have a big directory. I know it looks old, because it is old  Grin

Also the connection is not secure, try to add SSL here.

@Docnaster - Got the same feel here, It's like going back to late 90's when internet was not a crazy thing yet. However, I've seen this kind of design when I was doing SEO work around 2010 as well, when people starting to use this technique of submitting your article to different directories to get backlinks.

See you are already having a storm here.
I wonder why you chose your website to look like this? It feels like a site out of the 1990's.
Is there any particular reason for this? Maybe lack of budget or didnt have a designer to work with?

By the way, i might find a bug. Please try again.

I do not know what you meant, however i can easily add an another website to the directory:

You can add someone's website, it's a contribution. However if you try to add your REF links etc, site will not allow it.
The value will get higher after adding new sites by people; however i will add some major sites anyway.

Ahh, by the way; it's a website directory; not a simple link share portal; which means you cannot add your bitcointalk (or another forum) announcements.

Yep, so far there is only one link in the social section and it doesn't appear that people can add their own links.

What's the point of advertising your site before it has anything of value to offer?

I suggest adding a feature where people can suggest links, allowing you to check it out before approving it.

Thanks for your interest and honest questions.
About maintaining and verifying; i can handle them one by one and i don't think that it will be storm anyway. If the project will turn to a storm (i love this though) i can continue with moderators. I have a internal system to stop spamming like URL, same sentences, email address ban. Also the site is for webmasters which means i will only accept domains, not links; which will penetrate lot of spam entries too.

All in all it's a directory service without auto approval. This is the nr1 spam filter  Cheesy

I'd love for you to have a storm as well but sadly I don't think it'll happen again anytime soon.
But what I think will happen is that there will be a lot of dubious and shady people would list their businesses with you in such a clever way that you would not be able to catch them.
What about a business model? How are you planning to make money? Through ads? Premium listing?

I'm ready for shady things, thats why site has a report button. Of course they will trick me anyway Smiley

Not planning for premium listing. Premium listing always makes me feel like it's a scam. My goal is a good public list for everyone's benefit. Money making will be through clean ads. (Without disturbing ads like popups).

Hello everyone,

Welcome to the BTCDir, the Bitcoin Directory

BTCDir is a simple directory which helps people to find Bitcoin related services with webmaster contributions. It's based on a simple directory infrastucture which is register-free, easy to use and clean.

Our system does not need any registration for both navigating and website contribution. We check all sites manually and add to our database.

BTCDir is a great resource for people and a free advertising space for webmasters! Everyone is welcome to add their websites and have a place in this simple but useful project!

Thanks.

http://btcdir.net

Seems like an useful project.
But how will you maintain the site? How will you verify what everyone lists? How will you keep the scammers out? How will you penalize or restrict repeated posts of the same service and essentially stop spamming?
These are just the few questions that come to mind at first. I'll be back with more review and feedback.

Thanks for your interest and honest questions.
