I'm still not happy at the prospect of a blockchain fork.  To me that takes away from what Bytecoin is.  I see several others have expressed similar feelings on other threads about the subject.

But I guess if people don't put their hashing power where their mouth is, they don't get a say. Smiley  I hold no ill will toward anyone who sees a different way forward.  My preference would've been that you leave Bytecoin alone and create another "just like Bitcoin, but merge-mined" coin from the beginning instead.

i say keep it the same...

Is this using the forked merge-mining Bytecoin, or the original?

so once this thing goes live what will we need to do?

Is it just the majority of miners who need to adopt this fork and everyone else gets defaulted in? Or will we need to download a new client, import our keys, make a new address and send our coins to that address?

new linux one. cshellswell will be building a bytecoin site which coretechs has kindly obtained so we will have an official site up too. There will be a second pool running there most likely but for now there is bte.crypto-expert.com

Please ignore any error messages when registering and proceed to login. If the page times out then simply refresh to be logged in

yep exactly. 900 or so of these high diff blocks left. and that sync message should be gone too. So for bytecoin today has been quite a good day. Got the new linux wallets done, new seed nodes and checkpoints.

https://github.com/ahmedbodi/Bytecoin-MM

m0.8.1merged is the main branch. the master is outdated bitcoin code.

it was never dead. maybe to you but people have been mining it and keeping it alive. To people like you its risen from the dead.

In a side not i've compiled and created the latest client and checkpointed it. WIll be released on the official site as soon as weve updated it.
I tired to use bte.crypto-expert.com as the addnode. My wallet still wont sync

rpcuser=i3lome.1
rpcpassword=x
addnode=bte.crypto-expert.com
addnode=109.40.79.215
addnode=142.134.141.57
addnode=78.158.7.238
addnode=84.200.17.243
addnode=115.78.132.156
addnode=59.156.160.196
addnode=5.64.127.174
server=1
listen=1

do I need to specify a port to get it to sync
