Lot's of unanswered questions regarding this upcoming BTC fork. The biggest being no mention of a failed ICO that netted the developers a 200,000 BTG premine.

I will continue to dual mine ETH, especially since the profitabilty will go up once the Byzantium fork goes through next week.

Byzantium won't make much difference, you will see Smiley

This time could be different game with Bitcoin Gold.... everybody has seen what happend during Bitcoin_cash.... So there is no panic now..... and nobody is going to sell his BTC before the fork. This will create panic after the fork and the BTG might tank even from the day 1. Let's see how the mining goes.... solo pools can be better if someone can set it up now......
We just need to be prepared with the pools and the exchanges ........

Hello just new here what do you think will happen once
BTG mining is started
is the difficulty going to burst
because of miners fleeing in the new coin
feel free to post your or reply your comments

What coin do you mean? BTG is Bitgem - very old coin (from 2013 year). It can be found at the thread https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-new-site-bitgempw-btg-bitgem-049alpha1-colored-coins-faucet-207008.
Could you give us more info?

I think he meant Bitcoin Gold (Oct. 25 fork). Heard from some sources that this is an utter scam. Pre-mined before release so most probably this forked version wouldn't go so far at all, compared to Bitcoin Cash fork.

The only good thing about this coin is that can be mined only through GPU-s. I think the difficulty will skyrocket after only a very few days to one week as all the home miners will point their cards to this new coin. Being new it will be mined very easy and all GPU home miners are eager to see the same profit as they were used during early months of this year. Other than being mined with a GPU this new coin has nothing exceptional to make us wait it for, we only wait to mine it with our GPU-s.

New to mining, will only antminer s9 be able to mine this, would l3+ be able to or no?

Thanks

No, this coin cannot be mined using the antminer ASICs you mentioned because it is ASIC-proof. The whole point of the coin is that it can only be mined using GPUs. The creators seem to think this will make a more decentralized version of bitcoin because everyone including home miners can mine it. The creators however seem to be failing in implementation and marketing. Might be a quick pump and dump get ready.

perhaps i can be mined in a sense if a multipool like prohashing puts in on its payout coin list...but that would be down the road.....the only trick I know for mining obscure coins..with
an asic....you just mine and get paid out in whatever coin.

anyway ...just an aside on how folk could go about this ...again assuming this GPU only coin is listed on prohashing sometime in the future (or other multipools)

Is Bitcoin Gold another BTC fork like BCH/BCC was? Will every BTC holder be receiving the corresponding amount of Bitcoin Gold?

Yes.
Does this mean one should load up on BTC right before the fork and get (another) free lunch?...  Lips sealed

What do you expect the price to be in the beginning? I think it will be very low (about 0.005-0.01) which doesnt make sense because it is supposed to be "gold". I really dont think this one will live a long life...

If it goes by btc and btc cash then only 21 million coins of btc gold which means coin price will be very high and so the difficult to mine it given time. Yeah price in the beginning could be low but will not stay low.
I think, if gold dont have hipe effect at the beginning, they will stay one of thousands of cheap coin. Because bitcoin gold have no new tech, coins are mined on gpy a long time ago.
