RX580s are good gpu for Ravencoin and Ergo, its not as if they will be useless once ETH merge is completed, also they have 8GB memory onboard so even if the merge never takes place you can still continue to mine with 580s, the problem lies in its power consumption.

That's if ETH failed to swap PoW algo for PoS algo, 6gb GPUs won't stop been hot cake for miners because they support many other algorithms as well.

Gtx 1060 GPUs are still working. They will continue to earn money for those who want to use it in mining. All this time they have been doing good work for The and other algorithms. They consume a little more energy than newly released GPUs. This is perfectly normal.
It won't be once 23MH earns miners 0.22$ per day, there won't be enough to pay for the electricity bill unless the miners have free solar power or something else, in this area I believe the RX580 8GB is a better option, power consumption wise.
I don't understand what you are arguing about. The RX580 and Gtx 1060 are both old GPUs and will be obsolete once Ethereum mining ends. I have both RX480 and Gtx 1060 and they only mine ethereum. But I don't recommend them for beginners.

OP what type of graphic cards are you using? Are those gtx 1060 or gtx 1660s? Also I want to know the exact power consumption your mining rig is using, I'm planning to build a small rig with 6 GPUs max but haven't figured out which GPU to go with.

Nvidia 1060 6Gb cards currently use about 90 watts and you'll get around 22 MH's of power.  Since it is &gb, you can still use it for 2.5 more years in THE mining. Instead of this card, you can buy Nvidia 3060 Ti 8 Gb.  You will get 50 Mh of power. You will consume 130 watts of power.  Due to the RAM capacity, it is possible to use it for a longer period of time in mining.

My RTX 3060Ti is doing 62MH not 50MH using 130watts, this is one of the most efficient graphic cards for mining, period, also RTX 3070s is just like 3060Ti, the best GPU to replace GTX 1060 is GTX 1660S or RTX2060 Super.

I agree with you. With the oc settings made at the time of operation on the actual system, it does not fall below 50 Mh at low wat values.  it is quite normal to receive 62 Mh with 135 wat.

The value I have mentioned is the value it will give when the Gtx 1060 power values are applied.

Do not use gtx 1060. They are already very old with their problems and the maximum hashrate on ethereum is 24.5 megahash and the power consumption will be about 100 watts. In the future, it is better to buy more energy efficient video cards.

Thank you Bitcointalk Forum  Smiley
Disable graphics card backlight. This will save you a few watts. And after assembling the farm, carefully connect the wires so that they do not fall into the fans. If your power supply's fan is horizontal, it's best to mount the power supply vertically. Less dust will get into your PSU and the fan will last longer.
Hi @FP91G I've tried all possible means to off these graphic cards back lights through hiveOS but its not working, the information dropped by @5W-Kilo isn't working either, how can I turn off the back light?
I only have 1 option. You need to install Windows on another hard drive and turn off the backlight using a utility from the manufacturer. Then boot from the HDD with Hive OS or

@F91G this question is for you, is disabling graphic cards backlight add any meaning to watt consumption I mean those lights can even take up to 10watt combine maybe I'm wrong but I've never disabled my GPU backlight since u bought them.
5 watts per hour, 120 watts per day, 43.2 kilowatts per year
One of the famous sayings of the great inventor Benjamin Franklin was “A penny saved is a penny earned.”
If you are not using it as an emergency lighting, it is best to turn it off.
Sorry for my silly question how can I turn off the backlight? I'm using HiveOS
I guess the one click tab is available in mining software like Nicehash and hiveOS but I've not tried it out myself since my GPU don't have backlight but here is a picture of the tab you looking for.

Every watt saved is worth it a single 1660 GPU runs on 50watt from wall when mining Ethereum, imagine having 10 GPUs with backlight on and you off all those 10 backlight you would end up saving alot, even if it's just 5watts each that's 50watt.. this doesn't matter to you maybe because you have free electricity or green energy?.

Congratulations is a very respectable rig with an impressive hashrate, as usual bitcointalk is a point of reference, a place to find good tips also for mining

There's definitely a lot of people here with decades of experience building PCs.  Some of us have even been around since the days of CPU mining and have built just about every type of mining rig there is.  Personally, I loved the early days of tweaking and building liquid cooled GPU rigs.  Nowadays as mining profitability depends mostly on power consumption there is less room for expensive and super cool rigs, but it's still a fun hobby.  I'm glad you were able to utilize this forum as a tool to get the information you needed to make the rig building process easier.  Don't hesitate to come back and post your story and we always love pictures of mining rigs.  Maybe soon you'll be advising others on how to best build their mining rigs.  Smiley
