Look at it like this :

The graph shows the growth of a commodity on the stock exchange, and you have a opportunity before the rise of the price, to buy some. You need to predict when to sell, before it totally collapse.  Grin Grin

So if you bought 20 bits worth and it goes up, and you sell {cashout} before it collapse, you will get your amount of bits, times the value you cashed out on. {Example : If you buy 20 bits and it runs to x1000, and you cashout/sell at say x500... you would have made a profit of 20 x 500 = 10 000 bits {You would obviously subtract your 20 bits}

If you do not sell, and it collapse, you lose everything.

It's easy to work out the bits value ..... just open up www.preev.com and choose the bits indicator on the left hand side... {The symbol that looks like a u} just type in the amount of bits and change the option to the right to your local currency.

Or you can use their own built in conversion tool in the chat screen... this has been explained in this thread already.

1000 bits = 1mbtc

Right, I know that bits is supposed to be a unit of BTC somewhere between 1 satoshi and 1mBTC but I can never remember exactly what that interval is and then when folks start talking about large numbers of "bits" I'm totally confused (asking myself, decimal is two places to the right or to the left?).  I really don't get why this new unit was invented, and, as far as I can tell, moneypot seem to be the only place that it's being used.

All you do is wager the amount u want and when u want to "cashout" hit the collect button. If you don't hit it before the game crashes you lose.

Huh, but I thought I was supposed to put my "cashout" level in before the game started.  Also, I thought there was something about who bets the most or some other aspect.  In my browser, there seems to be enough latency that I never saw a "cashout" button while the game was running.

I think the main thing that's holding me back on playing this game more is that I don't yet understand all the rules (the faq page seems to be missing some material), I don't really understand the interface (probably related to the fact that I don't understand the rules), and I don't understand the units---I know supposedly this "bits" thing is "easy" but I just find it very confusing.

So, the only thing I've really seen from this game is that it has a neat animation where a line is drawn on a graph.  I know there's more to it than that but these are the barriers for me.

Nope you missing my point...  Grin

If every round takes +/- 5 seconds on average and his strategy was to place 40 bit on every bet, with a x20 000 payout... He would have made a zero profit on that WIN within the first 2 to 3 days of betting.

Yes, it is a lot of money, but the profit gets smaller, with every bet you place... Click on his name, and you will see his betting history, to see the whole picture.  Grin {He used a strategy of placing 40 bits on every round, for a LOT of games, before he won... He now decreased his bet to 10 bits per round} So every bet after that WIN will also decrease his winnings from that round.

Over time, if you keep on playing, and you not winning, it just gets absorbed again. {Most people WIN big and keep playing.. so it's gone in a day or two}  Sad

ops sorry

I missed your point  Tongue

That player you linked played 4 months ago: not sure but I guess that time btc was worth more than $235.

the price of bitcoins 4 months ago is around $350-400 and i think around that time , moneypot is still run by espringe instead of rhavar

If I remember correctly at the point Trolljegeren played the site was already sold to Rhavar.

that is a crazy attempt to get 20k cashout, it will require luck to get that , what are the chances of that to happen ryan?

About 1 in 20404.

Although, two things worth mentioning: You may get cashed out early if its hits the max profit, which is currently 3.05 BTC (It's not like we could afford to let you 20,000x a 1 BTC bet) and during the game loses, you may also qualify for bonuses (if not enough people have cashed before the game crash)

Understandably, I would have been very, very upset if someone had forced me out.

Or to be more exact, on his 20778th attempt to cashout at 20k he finally did it =)

That was a HUGE win for a 0.009486 cents bet... at today value it's about $189.. on a single bet.

Question is.... How many times did he have to bet 40 bits to get that? I tried that before, but my strategy was much smaller { 1 bit with a x200 payout }  Grin Grin Grin
