I prefer both if you buy Bitcoin then it is obvious that you are going to sell them to. When I am buying I prefer the price to be around $300. When I am going to sell my coins I want at least make a $100 profit.
I would like to mine the altcoins and sell them for bitcoin. I think the bitcoin has more longer term future success.
Anybody with half a brain will be buying now, sitting back & waiting for an entry point with the halving approaching is risky AF.
Well, you can also say that people who haven't been buying from when the prices were sitting below $300 till now, have been sleeping and wasting time.

Investing in bitcoin is always risky as no one is sure what will be the price of bitcoin in future, but looking at the present growth of bitcoin I think its worth to take that risk.

I really think that the bitcoin price could reach the $2000 level in a medium term, so I think it is not a bad idea to increase my current amount of bitcoins while its price is still below the 500 level, because a potential increase to $2000 would mean to multiply x4 or 5 my current money. So I still prefer to buy bitcoins.

Majority of people are buying at a moment, as price will move up at the time of halving and everyone can earn higher profits by selling at that time.
Some of them might be selling who bought at the price around $250, and I think this is the best time for them to sell some part of their coins and hold rest for the halving.

It would be better if you are going to buy now because as you can see you see that the value is not high now.
And if you are selling Bitcoin than you wont also get that much money because the value is also not high enough to sell it with a nice profit.

If you cannot earn it then I think you should simply buy it, as you can expect good returns only in next 3 months, which no other product can offer us.
