I use bitcoin for such purpose, because it's very easy. I don't have any USD online or even on a card, so it's the best option to use btc. However, as the author seems to care about bitcoin and its price, I guess for OP it is better to use money, because that won't have bad impact on bitcoin whereas if you buy alts for btc you sort of show that the demand for btc decreases and in theory it might make the price go down.

From the past months of trading altcoins, all of my trades are paired with BTC. It is so easy to buy altcoins with BTC and as far as I know, most of the notable altcoin exchanges (Poloniex, Bittrex, etc.) only uses BTC. Just an advice, do some research before trading altcoins. It is a no brainer that altcoin can be very profitable but you must also consider the risk with it.

just looking at the markets now it looks like almost everything in the top 20 anyway is on a slight
negative, except ripple . . . there is a lot of speculative investing involved in altcoins I think

the very purpose of altcoina is actually to earn more BTC and then exchanged for local currency and spend it Grin

They allow us to be Brukers at various exchange what we can not be on real stock exchanges, which is good because the simple man can try their hand at such things, but in fact it is gambling and speculation as in the real world

I'm trading on Poloniex also sometimes I get sometimes I lose, sounds like gambling

Exactly buying and selling of cryptocurrency or altcoins are the best way to get some coins as a profit and it is also good for long term investment. And yeah bitcoin's price matters alot if price is high you will get more altcoins, one thing more nowadays bitcoin goes high day by day so altcoins decreases their price so try not to buy altcoins, stick to bitcoin and hold them.

Mostly exchanges accepted bitcoin payment to buy and sell altcoins, which higher price of bitcoin will be great as an advantage to buy more cheaper altcoins compare to bitcoin (price). You can start to buy or sell on some famous exchanges such as Poloniex or bittrex, depends on your country, it better to choose an exchange located in your region.

Its better to buy altcoins with bitcoin in my opinion and its easy too if you have bitcoin as you will get more altcoins.The best altcoin what I think is ether and monero.These two coins have the potential to rise. Anyway before investing just study the market and invest .In my opinion poloniex is a good exchange and I always use that.

Of course it is better to buy alt coin with bitcoin because it helped the transaction rate of bitcoin and it is true bitcoin price is a bit expensive, but it is better to buy bitcoin rather than alt coin because the profit with alt coin is a bit unpredictable and you will have a bigger chance of losing money and you still need to do research to know which coin to buy

I think you should buy a coin that has rate and traffic good with bitcoin.
IF you already bought this coin, I suggest to you to save the coin up rate and traffic increased from the previous, if the rate and traffic already high you must quickly sell the coin

If you want to buy altcoins using Bitcoins itself, then Poloniex and Bittrex are the two most commonly used exchanges out there for all your buying needs. And if you have bots that you wish to check out, then both these exchanges are the best places to test them at.

Thanks. They both look same in terms of their services. I see many people suggesting poloniex though, how do you prefer one over the other? Reliability? Support or is pricing any different?

My advice to you is try to use bittrex exchange or Poloniex exchange they have lots of altcoin where you can afford to have it on these two trading platform. And this two platform has been established for a couple of years/

It's a wiser thing if you bought altcoins with bitcoin and use that money of yours to buy bitcoin. Sounds the same? Actually no and you will know why it is once you are engaged in that kind of activity.

Bitcoin price is unpredictable, so on with the altcoin price, so I or anyone else can never give you the exact thing you should do. Try to analyze the price market and make your own conclusion. Buy altcoin for small amount and see how will it goes.

I normally use only bitcoins to purchase altcoins but till now I don't think I have heard anywhere that we can purchase altcoins using cash. And yeah it is good to purchase altcoins when the bitcoin price is high as I normally do that but the most important thing is to invest in the right altcoin don't make an investment that will make you regret later if you think that coin is going to give better returns than bitcoin then only invest otherwise stick to bitcoins only.

if i'm not mistaken that there is no altcoins exchange had features able to buying them with real money and obviously bitcoin to altcoins is more good however i think you cannot buying altcoins with small amount of bitcoin because it depend on the prices of altcoins itself except you will buying Doge because Doge price was so low now

Best place is poloneix exchange.If you want to buy newly released altcoins, you can use Bittrex exchange as lots of new coins are listed there.I bought altcoins with bitcoins.Better do good research before investing in newly released altcoins.

You're right for poloneix, but for a long-term investment is difficult to evaluate what will happen.
Did you see what happens to the price of of DASH, in just two days you could earn several times the price goes from 30 to 50 $ up and down in just one day only.
