there are these online smsreceive.com providers, where you can choose a number and it will send a verification code there, you can try it out if you want

I hate it when sites ask for a phone number to sign up!   Sure most people would use a burner phone for that purpose alone which they use for nothing else so there's no way to get much info out of you but unfortunately there are some countries where you need documents to buy a phone card.

Why not just buy one of those cheap SIM cards? Where I live you could get one for like 5$ (those without contract obviously).

Spend 5$ on facebook only to bypass SMS verification is like to lose before even starting the game...

there are people that do SMS verification here in forum.

You might want take a look in the service section for it

I bought a Google Voice Number for just two dollar (in Bitcoin). I'm sure Google Voice could does the trick to bypass Facebook verification.

with k7 you can do the trick on facebook to edit it and make them send you a vocal message, and you are done.
I remember there was a way to "trick" facebook into sending the vocal instead of the sms, by going to the sourcecode of the page, search for text and replace it with voice, and you did half of the job, and the other half was handled by K7.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8wmYyDP-jU

This is the only video that talks about that part of k7, i remember there was another one but can't find it.

There is one app i found that works. Freedompop will send you a conformation code. I've used it numerous times, and it's worked for me. Try that and see what happens.

So facebook wants my phone number, anyone knows a website that works, it's free and gives you an unique phone number to do this? I tried  pinger (i don't receive any SMS( and a shitload of other websites and none worked!

Is SMS verification on facebook a REQUIREMENT now? Seems kinda shity, not everyone has a phone.
yeah Facebook will keep asking you to add a mobile number every time you try to login , and then they will make your life hell and keep sending you texts like "xyz posted that shit , she commented that , cat cat cat, dog dog dog,  birthdays of people you don't care about :p "
The only thing its good for is it becomes handy to recover your fb password though mobile,  if you loose your password all you'll need to do is click on forgot password and select " receive code on mobile " option , and you'll get a code that you can use to change your password.
All in all facebook is turning in Sh!t

I used to be able to ignore that, but now i'm being forced to put the phone there...

You can try using a prepaid cell phone. It would cost a few dollars, but it is what you would probably have to do if you didn't want facebook knowing your real number.

Well, I guess most people who will want to use Facebook actually do have a phone. Even in developing countries. I'm just wondering: Do they require this in every country they're offering their service in or maybe just industrial countries or the US&EU or something?

There are sites that offer you numbers you can send SMS to. They don't require a login and you can read all messages that go to that number. But many of those don't actually work anymore pretty quickly or Facebook has already blocked them
Hehe but those site's number's are used too many times. You can't use them until it's a fresh number. Wink

Yeah, that's what I said. The services that require a SMS authentication only allow a certain amount of registrations per number and then ignore the number. That's why you most likely won't be able to register using one of those if you're registering with a service that's rather well known (like Facebook)
