Yes, the government has a authority to do it because they have a police power and the eminent domain so all things are possible to them to do, if they see that it will bring a good benefit in the country.

Bitcoin has been around the borders of financial markets for less than a decade, but is slowly gaining importance as an alternative asset class.
Can the government of any major country step in and do the unlikely?

Any governments can all exchanges where bitcoin is traded and refunded. but they can never ban bitcoin. that's why bitcoin keeps on growing on its demands. and once they ban exchanges, there will be some ways for bitcoin users to find in refunding it.

Of course, the government can manage its country and can at any time suspend any currency, regardless of the opinion of the people of the people

I think the government can ban bitcoin. It depends on each government policy. However, this does not mean that bitcoin does not exist in that country. Although banned in the country, in fact there are still many people who use bitcoin.

It is always depends on the government  if your government against in bitcoin then they will ban bitcoin in their country but if they see how bitcoin help the country and they also want bitcoin they can not ban it in their country.

Government is the primary power generating institution of a nation, they have the judiciary and legislative authority, however, every decision and legislations are subject for studies and reviews, specially when their economic stability is at stakes. If they find any irregularities , perhaps they would try to find ways on how to fix it and set control. It would at least depend on how they see and conceptualized bitcoin in their country.

I think yes, any government can ban bitcoin, but I don't think it will ever make bitcoin dead. Because bitcoin is traded on the Internet, its investors come from all over the world, and bitcoin does not die from a country's ban. If a country bans bitcoin, it can still trade.

Actually they can easily ban bitcoin when the executive , legislative and judiciary department of a government pass a law to impose the total banning operation of bitcoin nationwide.

I wouldn't think about it that much. Many have tried but soon enough made it ok again to do crypto one way or another. They want their regulations implemented first though. Better to leave it alone.

I do not think the government can get in and do the impossible. Bitcoin has been well managed in terms of security and management of its controls, perhaps a large country will influence other countries to resist bitcoin and agree to punish bitcoiner. Sorry if I'm wrong but here's my opinion.

the government can ban bitcoin from their coountry only, or makes a regulation that bitcoin is illegal to used, but  the government can't ban the bitcoin 100% because the system of bitcoin is still work 100% and can be use in any country in the world, just the regulations of it can banned in a country

Government can stop the use of bitcoin sites and they can mandate companies to not use bitcoin. In that way, I think bitcoin will be useless within your country but government can never ban bitcoin.

Bitcoin is peer to peer and decentralized. That's why in some countries where bitcoin is banned by the government, some people were still able to use bitcoin.
