It does not mean you should go around asking people if they accept bitcoin as payment, because doing so means you have bitcoins, and in some cases you will be putting yourself at a security risk.
You know one thing about people is that whenever they hear that someone operates on bitcoin they wouldn't know how much of bitcoin that person is holding but would think that is thousands of bitcoin without knowing it's just a fraction that is holding.
Assumptions! So many assumptions have been made up as a result of the image of oneself that someone has put forward. Someone living a fake life and trying to prove to social media friends that they are doing okay, maybe by constantly letting everyone know they're investing in Bitcoin. People who see these things can easily just assume that they have a large amount of holding already, and because of that assumption, set them as targets for kidnapping or a hack. We have to be careful not to fuel people's assumptions with our actions.

I would want to know if there are any mall, such as eatery, supper store and shopping center within the state?
This would help us easily locate one. For instance in PH-city or within Umuahia. Most time I am getting messed up with cash so due this p2p stuff and i think is the right we look for another alternatives to spend our coin without even looking out for exchanging them directly to p2p providers.

This is more like a thread to discuss the happening places that accept bitcoin with the State/county.
Some places may accept bitcoin or cryptocurrency even if it is not publicly displayed that they accept bitcoins. If the managers are people with cryptocurrency knowledge and know how to accept bitcoins and send bitcoins, as well as keeping it safe, they may accept bitcoin as payment from you if that is the only available option if all other options of payment fail. It does not mean you should go around asking people if they accept bitcoin as payment, because doing so means you have bitcoins, and in some cases you will be putting yourself at a security risk.

So while asking he needs to know where and how to about asking people otherwise op stand in a better chance to be kidnapped while thinking is a millionaire in dollars/bitcoin.

We still have some good exchanges that offers p2p. Like bybit, bitget etc.
There are other cex that still conduct p2p service like huobi, paxful present day called Noones, they are pretty much volatile and has a lot of buyers. I've used them severally but you've to be careful because of scammers on them especially Paxful. For Huobi, the time given to buyer is approximately 48 hrs which is annoying.

Omo 48 hrs is too much nah nawa for them ohhh . Nah make people nor too know about them so , nothing like the top exchanges nah because of wetting our government dey use our see nah make us tey pass through this stress, before binance, kucoin , okx all those guys dey and their p2p dey go smooth .

Well normally for this p2p stuff man got to dey use sense or dem go do am dirty, because dey earn nor easy like most of us here nah Crypto funds we tey dey guide because I dey run various stuff for this space , because you nor fit just depend on only one source like that.

We all facing same p2p issues in this country as a crypto enthusiasts. But to me is better to continue with cex to run your p2p when it comes to changing usdt to fiat .

We still have some good exchanges that offers p2p. Like bybit, bitget etc. And if it comes to the worse we have not choice than to find a nice Dex p2p and starting using , because alot of people are literally using this space to survive so I don't see any reason why all those so call government should be fighting it , like days back okx finally stop their services in this country which was a painful event.

Has bitcoin now controlling the price of Naira in our country and again how has bitcoin affect the price of NGN/USD?
Bitcoin is not controlling naira price. What I meant is that if something like that is happening in a way people started to spend bitcoin instead of naira, and if naira value keeps deprecating as usual, the government may refer to how people  are spending bitcoin directly to be the cause. Even if it is not the cause.
Okay I understand now
Thank you Charles-Tim. On a norm our government needs to fixed out things to efficiently work in our country and it's lacking mismanagement that results us to this stage where they looks for way to channel their blames even still on their failure. I have tried to understand that they are not wanting anything else to be source of livelihood for the youth and would want to subjugate the entire populace to acts under their control.

I don't think that there is any restrictions anywhere for businesses not to accept Bitcoin in Nigeria, it is personal choices if they will like to accept it although accepting it as payments in the country is not yet popular.
If more people are accepting bitcoin, that is going to be the talk of the government that bitcoin is the reason for naira depreciation. It is better how Nigeria is now about bitcoin adoption in a way most people do not accept bitcoin for payment. Because there is no law yet against it does not mean the government will not find an excuse.

Yes I know that lot of people do trade bitcoin but to say that bitcoin doesn't entirely controlling our economy.
Actually, if we begin start to dey use our Bitcoin they buy things online or for physical stores/shops the government go think am the other ways, like say nah BTC nai dey make the naira not to get value for were USD dey, meanwhile all of us already know say the reasons for the naira to depreciate nah because of excessive use of dollar and the high cost of goods from abroad, but the one way con worsten the situation nah subsidy removal from petroleum. And main looking at the whole situation you go understand say were the government think say nai be the problem of the cost of living no be actually the cause at all.

With the way the country is going I will say it's a very hard task for shops to receive bitcoin even as our government has turned to anti-bitcoin or anti-cryptocurrency people will be afraid to accept Bitcoin and it's corresponding currencies. Why not just have alternative as few other already suggested this will save you drama and suspecion having to do with bitcoin, cash is more reliable people go buy things using your card and none will be able to know if you uses your bitcoin or not because with the way things are going in this country people needs to hide themselves.

I don't think any shop will risk openly accepting Bitcoin following our government position on cryptocurrency and anything related to it. We should not forget so soon how the government clamped down on exchanges, forcing them to discontinue allowing Nigerians to use their p2p services with some outright ban of Nigerians in all their services. Going by this, no business will openly accept Bitcoin to avoid taking avoidable risk because I do not see doing so as a smart move. Before the government crackdown started, I knew a lot of shops and businesses that accept Bitcoin even in our city PH but for now they are all on low-keys to avoid problems. There might still be other stubborn ones but I do not know any of them.

You can't find any physical store in PH or Abia state for using crypto to purchase anything, no store had ever accepted that I think. From the first link Charles-Tim posted, you can find the store to spend your crypto in Lagos and Abuja.

Quote
Some restaurants and cafes have embraced cryptocurrencies as a payment option in major cities like Lagos and Abuja. You can enjoy a delicious meal or grab a cup of coffee while utilizing your Bitcoin or other crypto holdings.

Moreso, another factor that may affect the usage of Bitcoin to be used in the store is the transaction fee. Buyer paying a fee of $30 worth Bitcoin for an item is not really ideal to me. It's only the rich that will actually get involved in this.

Except it's done privately, most businesses in the country currently don't support the purchase of good and services using Bitcoin or any other crypto. I think it is primarily due to the regulatory unfriendliness that the government has demonstrated in recent times.

It seems like  many of us are not getting the point here. Currently cryptocurrency is more like illegal in Nigeria and that simply means that transactions made with bitcoin or any other crypto currency irrespective of if it's P2P or just a normal goods or service purchase is more of illegal. That's one of the biggest reasons why crypto currency payments aren't popular in Nigeria. Take for example you set up a shop publicly accepting crypto payments, you may get shutdown by the government depending on certain factors.

~Snipped

Yes. That's why I said if it's accepted, more often than not it is done privately. If you're not informed, you simply won't know as it's not a publicly available information. Any business that publicly accepts it is only inviting attacks from government especially not that there's is little to no clarity on the legality of crypto indulgement.

Another reason crypto currency transactions aren't too common in Nigeria is because payments in crypto is hard to come by due to low adoption which still owes to the government. Crypto has a wide audience in Nigeria though a majority of them are being held back by governmental restrictions and removing those restrictions will allow a breakthrough in crypto transactions.

It will be quite difficult to find just any random place that accepts crypto payment. Except it's in a popular place like Lagos or abuja and very know to the public. Right now, rate of people using cryptocurrency for payments is very low. Most times they save using cryptocurrency in and wouldn't have such taughts of spending in crypto. To me t's better to just convert the coin to naira as there is no much difference and currently the rate is around 1600 naira to a dollar making it more profitable to converting to naira from dollar.

Of course that's true because in as much as there could be some certain individuals who will agree to that but being able to identify them will certainly be very difficult and besides there could be some disadvantages of using such p2p method because there is no way the person will agreed to buy it with the current market price because they would always want to get some little profit from that transaction and besides he should also understand the fact that sending dollar to another person will incurred some service fees, so just like you said to be on safer side converting it online is the best because hoping to see any such payment option from any shopping centre could be very frustrating especially in Ph city.

Maybe this can be helpful:

https://blog.busha.co/where-can-i-spend-bitcoin-in-2023-in-nigeria/
https://www.nigeriabitcoincommunity.com/nigeria-bitcoin-stores/

Open the first link with VPN. It would open.

I still prefer to convert the coins to naira for spending in relation to how crypto is used for spending in Nigeria. More than 99.99% of businesses in Nigeria are not accepting bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies for payment.

Yes you are very correct due to government regulation and fighting over Binance and some other cryptocurrency exchange that offer p2p services in the name which they are killing our Naira's. Even there were places that accept bitcoin i guess it would be on the low since the environment aren't that friendly and convenient. However, op why no just used direct exchange and there some other platform that offer swift trade on their p2p services such as bybit and some platform that offer such services.

If you're considering convenience, transacting with fiat is more easier than using your Bitcoin to make purchase at malls.

Imagine you went to an eatery to get something of 5 thousand naira and have to make your payment with Bitcoin using p2p, that's quite to small for such kind if transaction and even if you're to pay in USDT, it's approximately $2 which is quite small considering that you still have to pay transaction fee that might be up to $1 on the average.

Most of the young guys at big malls like SPAR, most expecially the ones that deals on gadgets like like phones and laptops are into crypto and can decide to accept payments via Bitcoin if you decide to pay through that means but it's not yet rampant to see most of them officially putting crypto as one of thier primary payment medium because of the regulatory issues we're still facing with the SEC.
