Bitcoin would become worthless if internet connection would not be available anymore. Worst case scenario is the beginning of World War III. Another thing is if the technology  would not be upgraded which is impossible to happen.

For me possibly to yes. History is littered with currencies that failed and are no longer used, such as the German Mark during the Weimar Republic and, more recently, the Zimbabwean dollar. Although previous currency failures were typically due to hyperinflation of a kind that Bitcoin makes impossible, there is always potential for technical failures, competing currencies, political issues and so on. As a basic rule of thumb, no currency should be considered absolutely safe from failures or hard times. Bitcoin has proven reliable for years since its inception and there is a lot of potential for Bitcoin to continue to grow. However, no one is in a position to predict what the future will be for Bitcoin.
You can't compare bitcoin with some useless fiat such as German Mark, and Zimbabwean dollar. In fact, I don't think you need anyone to tell you bitcoin has a future because you don't need anyone to. Bitcoin is digital, fast, and decentralized. it was selling below a dollar (USD) 7 years ago and look at it now selling at $15k+ and bitcoin is not done yet it may reach up to $100k this year 2018. Keep using such sentiments you'll regret later! Tongue

It can if people would find bitcoin inconvenient. Nowadays, bitcoin had been having problems with transactions sometimes. Transactions are delayed, transaction fees are too expensive, and so on. However, people still believe in bitcoin and it's potential to dominate cryptocurrency for a long time. So, the odds of bitcoin being worthless is too low.

Yes it can fail, if people stop investing in it and it is not adopted by the mainstream. At present I see Bitcoin as its own worst enemy, the crazy price fluctuations and high cost of transactions is what holds it back, if it does not evolve it is definitely possible to become worthless

Bitcoin is different paper money which is printed by the government. Bitcoin is limited and it is not inflation. So, the demand for Bitcoin always rise, this leads the price goes up too. So, Bitcoin cannot die.

Hi,

Of course, I don't hope for that. Still, I think that the bitcoin can indeed become worthless. The main reason for that is that bitcoin cannot be used currently as a daily currency. If no service is developped accordingly, bitcoin may die.. just because it won't be of any use.

We are not on that slope... but it may still happen!

Becoming useless, it means losing all value. The value of bitcoin as a crypto currency is determined by the demand for it of people. That is, bitcoin will become useless in the event that it will lose the demand for it people. In the near future, this is not expected, since the demand for it is only increasing. What will happen next with confidence in bitcoin, no one can know.
There is still a possibility of actual depreciation of bitcoin due to the termination of access to it through the absence of the Internet itself, however such a development is unlikely. For this, either a catastrophe of a planetary scale or something like the third world war must occur.

Yes this can be very possible. Technology never stops evolving. Like today where there are many competitors who want to overthrown bitcoin in the top spot. Or maybe all cryptocurrencies might become worthless but not in my time i think. But for now let's enjoy this ride with bitcoin.

Bitcoin was the first but that does not mean it is 100% safe. Just a crisis. Investors stop pumping money on the coin. You always have to protect yourself. Today it is the price of 15k $ tomorrow may be 100 $.

High fees = low BTC price

I remember BTC at $0.15 and it was just being past around as a play thing and the fees were like
$0.0000001 so working backwards based on silly fees like we have today just what will it be worth because
rotting fruits don't trade as well.

BTC is losing ground to the other alt-coins and this is the reason so it could well fall off a cliff if the
rot is not stopped

Everything is possible. Bitcoin can become worthless as any other currency due to events that can not be predicted. Although at the moment it seems highly unlikely.
Bitcoin has been growing with fluctuations happening quite often. Another thing is that, more marketplace has begun to accept bitcoin, some used to terminate the bitcoin acceptance in a short because they don't get the expected business through the same. It requires time for growth and after certain time period surely the growth will be progressing and won't let it go down or worthless.

When a currency is fully backed by people's perceptions there is always room for that currency to become worthless.

So in short, yes.

But I honestly do not think it can realistically lose all of its value. It's an extremely plausible solution to digital money. and its only going to grow in the coming years.

There will always be a chance for that to happen but it is too early to say it.
Not because there is a saying that history repeats itself means it will happen again.

Bitcoin is young and now it is a different story. A lot of investors came in, with that it cannot be easily broken for many will be mad about it that might cause chaos in this world.  Grin

Truly said, this kind of predictions are not as easy as they seems to be. The real currencies also sometimes need to face the demonetisation and that leads to disturbance in the nation economy. In the same way it could happen with bitcoin and then bitcoin devaluation can affect the whole market in bad way. However the real question is whether bitcoin really gonna get drained up any time soon? According to me it is really impossible to happen as bitcoin's market capitalisation is way high and there is no point where this much market cap will go of the record. 300 billion is big thing and it took 100's of years for Gold to achieve that kind of market. Considering that fact I'm sure everything looks positive in the bitcoin world. Other crypto currencies are also important to keep up the race and thus everything here is interlinked for better future.

i don't really think its going anywhere. i think btc is a huge threat to other traditional currencies and if anything will shut down some of those banks who don't recognize whats coming. The potential to build weather in crypto is so much better than in banks. people are getting behind this thing every second. in 3-5 years we will be riding the train while the naysayers will be running to catch up. i'm not worried about it, but just don't keep all your eggs in one basket.
Bitcoin will not become and will never become worthless as per today we can see that bitcoin has been one of the growing industry in the whole world, and a lot of countries are using bitcoin to be part of their economy as they are seeing a great opportunity for this one.
