Nope, you support the sites with transparent payouts.

Let's say your charity has a website, you ask them to display their Bitcoin donation address on the site, for all to see.

There will be people who misuse this, but it would hurt their reputation if they get exposed.

The sites with legitimate payouts to charities would get the most exposure and free advertizing to their sites.  Grin

The idea is to crowd fund these donations, with very small % going to charity from lots of people, who cannot afford to make big donations to charities.

Just use any best way to get money and send whatever % you want to charity.

I see many charity faucets sending the charity funds to themselvel only

I think it is a great idea.
For example, Moon Bitcoin (https://blockchain.info/address/12Zdr4CqdaLCngZJgLWVLYbuWNc2NNKKk5) has paid out over 9.5 bitcoin last week and 5% of that would be almost 0.5 btc, and it is just the money for a week.

Can someone tell us, what % of people who use faucets for the first time, continue doing it? {Repeat customers}

It does not mean, if you have 1 million registered users, that all 1 million of them are active users.

So my calculation, will be a bit flawed. {I made provision for less active users} but I do not know, how big this percentage is.

Even if only 500 000 are active, it will still make a difference.  Grin

Thank you for your reply, your inputs here are appreciated.

I have received some inputs from other faucet owners and they think this might work.

We are also busy on another forum, where we have excellent programmers, who will be changing some code to accommodate this feature.

They will also post the final product on GitHub for other future faucet owners to use.

5% of the payouts will not make a significant difference to the income for the faucet users. Most of the faucet owners are already giving a percentage of the income to a down-line referral network for each user. {If they only took 5% of that referral bonus, and deposited it towards a charity pot, as you stated, it would make this work}

We have lots of talented people on this forum, who could brainstorm this idea.

Faucet owners, will benefit twice from this :

1. Faucets in general will get good publicity and good publicity bring more users and more users bring more advertizing income.
2. Faucet owners can support charities or good causes of their choice

We can make this work, and we can make a difference.  Wink

Ok as a faucet owner I feel compelled to answer this thread.

Now whilst I think your idea is a noble one and something I am happy to get involved in your logic is flawed somewhat.

Us faucet owners DONT earn BTC we give it away, our revenue comes from advertising fee's and any other way we can think off to raise money to cover our out goings and then make a bit for us aswell.

90% of faucets use the MW script which has the referral system built in but I fail to see how you can utilise that to save a pot for charity.

What all us faucet owners do have in common that can help is a HUGE amount of BTC type traffic now your better off in my opinion abusing that in some way, but against you there, is the fact that if someone is clicking away on a faucet they clearly don't have much in the way BTC

There are limitless opportunities to make a difference.

One of the biggest Bitcoin businesses at the moment is, Gambling.

It would be great to get them in on this idea, and to see thousands of dollars going towards charities and good causes. They too have refferal bonuses and deposit bonuses.

For them to sacrifice as little as 5% towards this, would certainly help, but I doubt it.

My focus with this idea, would be to crowd-fund this through faucets. FREEBITCOIN has 903,572 registered users. {Let's say only 500 000 is active users}

Let's look at the numbers { 5% of 500 Satoshi = 25 Satoshi per hour x 500 000 = 12,500000 Satoshi --> +/- $50 US per hour! } <--- This is from 1 faucet and only 1 hour

If All 500 000 users, used it 5 times per day --> 12,500000 Satoshi x 5 = 0.625 BTC per day {+/- $250 US per day} x 7 = $ 1750 US per week x 4 = $ 7000 US per month

Now tell me, If one faucet can donate $ 7000 per month (5%} towards a charity or a good cause, what would happen, if say 300 faucets was doing this?

Small things, can make a huge difference. Pay it forward

Disclaimer : I used conservative estimates, based on guessed numbers. The faucet owners could give us better numbers to work with.

Nice idea. Why not try this concept on gambling sites too? I know of a gambling site that players feed a "rainbot". It would be best if they can feed a "charitybot" too.

There are happening scams daily when bitcoin is connected, so yes, that will make bitcoin more friendly to people and they won't be so afraid of something new.

This is certainly a good idea, plus it could help to get BTC some good publicity!

You or even we could all contact freebitco.in and make them donate to sean's maybe?

Hey man? Ive heard that freebitco.in is scam? Is there truth in it?

No they not, I get my "small change" every week, from the faucet and the referrals.

The are one of the oldest and more stable faucets around, and in my opinion the best faucet to adopt this idea.

Only thing is, I do not know how to get hold of them, to share my ideas.

I guess most people are not into making a difference, but more into making money. The crazy thing is, this will make them even more money, and they do not even have to sacrifice any income now. {Just offer the option to current members and set a parameter for new users, to donate 5% towards the charity, they support}

I have no knowledge on doing a faucet with this feature.

I was hoping people, who own faucets, and feel pasionate about some cause/charity would think about implementing it.

If you have a way to get hold of faucet owners, please send them a link to this thread or ask them to comment here, on the feasability of doing this.

I only know one faucet owner, and I am in the process of talking to him, to be the first to Pay it forward.

I can already see this. "Bitcoin faucet paid for 2 wheelchairs for elderly couple"  Grin Grin

Hey Kprawn!

I would certainly use that faucet to support it, even if the payment would be lower than the average most used faucets.

Please update if it comes to reality. Unfortunately i'm not a faucet owner
