I have a bunch of computers all with i5  3rd and 4th gen and they mine Monero at 1600 - 2000 H/s each.
An i7 will be slightly better, especially the newer generations which have more built-in cache.
The hashrate isn't the problem, what you are making every day is where the problem lies, you can't even make 50cents mining with these CPUs so why still mining with them? Ryzen CPU are way better than other

My CPUs combined mine me 1 XMR every 160 days according to Whattomine.  I am hodling hoping that XMR will moon one day.  Besides the rigs are GPU rigs. Main crypto income is from GPUs.
Are you running on free electricity because all your CPU are outdated except the ryzen CPU only, you are running at lose here if you are paying for electricity, your i5 will give you only 13cents or close to 13 cents each on 24 hour mining, only the ryzen will give you 0.55 cents for 24hrs, what am I missing

Not free electricity, but all my CPUs are part of GPU mining rigs and the rigs have already paid themselves.  So instead of mainly sitting idle, they might as well support the Monero network with some mining :-) .  With a combined hashrate of 13-13.5kH/s they make $0.7 - 1.0 a day at current prices.
Also, I like that everybody else is dismissive and negative about cpu mining.  Means more profit for me ...
There are people who are into CPU mining only, they use High end CPUs like intel XEOn that has massive cores from 8 to 16 or even more, but what I was unable to figure out is how they are maintaining the miners with electricity because XEON are power hungry too, only makes sense with free electricity

I do the same on my rigs.  Only $60-$70 a month but they are already running for the gpus..so why not.

can I mine or can't ?
you can but not profitable, atleast you had free power and many stanby pc to mine  Grin

the deal is many cpu mining are crowded by malmware, so many pc mining anonymously

for mining starter you should try for fun and get knowledge more on crypto community

The best altcoin to mine with a CPU right now is Monero, it's RandomX Algorithm is better on CPUs and also I would like to know the type of CPU you have in those PC, your topic says core i7, well it still depends, if you are using old core i7 like first gen you are just wasting electricity

my i7 is 1st generation !

really ?
2000 H/s for Monero by cpu i5 ?
whats does your cpu model ?

i5 3570.   No overclock but with slightly tighter memory timings (DDR3 1600)
Does 1970H/s mining XMR on 3 cores, using xmrig miner.  The 4th core I reserve for GPU mining on the same rig.
Also have an i5 4460 which does approx the same hash, but with all 4 cores.
But my Ryzen 3700X beats all the i5s I have combined, hashing at ~8800 H/s with 16 threads.

As you can see no single core series CPU on the list, if high end AMD cpu can bring 1$ to 3$ max what can your core i7 series do? Here is another screenshot of the highest core i7 9750H CPU mining result, this CPU is badass for multitasking and also hardcore gaming

As you can see, the result is very bad

hello guys
good time

how are you ?

I have a question about mining Smiley

I have 3 computer that always up and always connect to internet !

Can I mining alt coin with this pcs ?

what does alt coin best ?

please help me

Best Regards
Don't bother because it a waste of your time unless you have free electricity to burn off, ryzen CPU are very different and probably the best for mining but since only randomX algorithm is more profitable on CPU I really dont know, below is the screenshot I got from nicehash showing the Profitable CPUs for mining now

Yes, you can. But firstly - try to count. May be profit, that you can get, will be less potential problems. Plus electricity bills. I`m not good specialist at CPU mining, but as i know, 1 medium GPU gives much profit than 3 top CPU. Correct me if i`m not right.
You don't need any corrections mate, the fact is I haven't seen any core i7 that's Profitable for mining XMR, only AMD CPUs are Profitable, the only CPU ive yet to try is core i9 series, I'm sure their performance will be lower too, they aren't just good for RandomX Algorithm, it's better to go with GPU mining

Sovryn - Brings DeFi to Bitcoin
I'm not sure you will be impressed with what you will earn, you can use Nicehash calculator to find out if your earnings will worth your time and energy, presently EPYC CPU, RYZEN and Threadripper CPUs are the best for mining, others are less Profitable

See it's not worth mining with CPU, I have a ryzen 9 3900x CPU, this CPU costs me almost 500$ when I bought it mainly for gaming purpose but I decide to mine RandomX Algorithm just to see how much I will be making, after all the configuration with cores the higher I get was 0.57 USD per day, it doesn't make sense

The best chance to make money is look for new coins which have potential and mine them. If you are lucky they will be worth something and you can sell them. In many cases that won`t be the case though.

The big coins like Monero which have been there for a long time have the problem that too many people are mining them, so you can only get very little rewards from mining them.

You can make some good cents if you have i7 forth gen upward, I recommend using MineXMR pool instead because it's easier to configure, all tutors are available on the pool, also the best miner for Monero is XMrig, use google to find the link to the pool and the miner
