Obviously you can participate in airdrop . But at first you need an ethereum wallet to collect tokens . When you are going to fillup the airdrops form you will have to provide your email address , bitcoin talk user name , and Ethereum public address . Many newbies mistake here , they input their private key there . If you do this your account will hacked . Be-careful for that .

You can, be only extremely careful, don't give the keys and you don't pass on suspicious the reference, don't download not what file, at most that it is necessary to do it in the ayerdopakh to specify
1. Address
2. Name
3. Mail
I am afraid even to do others.

ByteBall, Stellar Lumens and OmiseGo have a special kind of airdrop. They give you some of their  coins proportional to the amount of a different coin, for example Bitcoin and Ethereum, you own. If you have your coins on an exchange it is not always possible to tell from the outside how many coins you own,  because your balance is shared with many other people in a single address. It then depends on the exchange if they give you the airdrop. That's why airdrop organizers recommend moving your coins into your own wallet.

The requirements depend on the airdrop you are participating in. Some airdrops require you to have certain coins in your wallet. While some airdrops only require you to register for it. So it is better for you to read rules of the airdrops you are interested in.

most of the airdrops are ERC20 tokens.so you need a myetherwallet to get your airdrop.i saw some airdrops need small amount of ethereum in your wallet, just to avoid scammers.but it is not necessary for every airdrop.you can participate any airdrop if you have the requirements they asked for.

About 50% of Airdrop are scammers, dont fall into trap. Be wise. ALWAYS scan their custom wallet as lot of them has a built in virus in their wallet. Once the virus enters your system. It will find the Bitcoin core installed, to steal your Bitcoins. It will look for ETH private keys and record your keystrokes. Airdrop that gives coins thru Waves wallet and ETH wallet are the only safe ICO.

Can you show me the example airdrop with 50% chance of scammer and airdrop with safe ICO ?
I just know bitcoin without learning other new things and ICO especially in this month is getting being massively advertise for example on sosmed

Airdrop is usually available to everybody. However, there maybe some requirements for certain airdrops. Like some airdrop need you to hold at least 0.1eth. Some airdrop need you to register your eth address, some need you to hold certain tokens etc.

it all depends on airdrop rules that you follow, there could be a rule that prohibits newbie and some that allow newbie. And also the most important thing you should have MyEtherWallet, because airdrop mostly wearing the wallet. not just airdrop, bounty campaign project was mostly wearing the wallet.  Wink

Unless specified by the organizer of the airdrop it's not require to hold coins or tokens in your wallet to receive the airdrop. There's no technical reason that prevents the transaction.

But I wonder why you are asking. Didn't you receive an expected airdrop?

Thank you for the answer :

Am asking cus of what i read somewhere online ,  and i quote,   "To be a recipient of an crypto airdrop often the only requirement is that you have coins from the relevant blockchain stored in your wallet. Examples of this format of airdrops are Byteball, Stellar lumens and OmiseGo."

But you guys make it clear to me Now .

I don't think you actually need ETH in the wallet unless there is a stipulation that says you have to have a certain amount.

Some airdrops want you to hold eth in your wallet (generally maximum amount is 0.1 eth) some airdrop's prerequisite is having a transaction in your wallet.

For ERC20 Token, you need some Ethereum in your wallet if you want to transfer the tokens to another address. You have to pay some gas with Ethereum for the miners (so it may be expensive to transfer if the coin don't have a lot of value...). For other coins which have their own wallets, you don't need Ethereum or Bitcoin.
