Of course you can install desktop bitcoin wallet on your personal computer. You can search on Google there are some wallet that can use on computer such as multibit, xapo, coindesk and etc. You can check it out. Sorry i will not give the link, because it is like i promote them, so you can browse it on Google.
yes desktop wallet can be download in personal computer and can be use as normal wallet, i think desktop wallet is more safer than online and therefore most of the people use desktop wallet for their mega projects.

You can store it by using Desktop Wallets, but if you want to store them on a computer then I recommend you to use an old laptop (if smaller it's perfect) and install Linux on it. There is a version that has a Bitcoin desktop wallet in it included. Your chances of getting hacked or infected are going to be way smaller, almost 0.

its a good solution for us to save our bitcoin into our computer and i think to install linux on it its also a good suggestion as we know that linux is the most secure and less infected with virus. the desktop wallet the OP can choose maybe bitcoin-core, multibit classic or HD, jaxx, or electrum. althought you install linux on it, you need to careful to save the private keys, because if the private keys is known by other people, then they can stole your bitcoin.

Yes. You can store your btc on your computer without going online. Use bitcoin core wallet or any SPV wallet. Dont use any online wallet especially coinbase. Its not really safe there. Becareful on storing bitcoin on your computer. Your computer must be a clean computer. Just install a good antivirus and install the wallet. I suggest use electrum wallet because its light and easy to use.

You can also boot from a Live CD on an existing computer you have.
If anyone here is doing that I would love to hear your experience and what OS you are using.
I'm assuming most people would use a Linux live CD but I'm wondering if any flavor of Linux offers advantages over another.

Is anyone using the Bitkey live cd/ usb?

As far as I know yes it is possible, But I don't know how? All I know you can download bitcoin core or multibit to your desktop for you to have your own bitcoin storage wallet so that you can save bitcoinBTC.

I have a USB wallet for bitcoins. I have got it as a present from one campaign where I have place to be before. And I can say that this kind of wallet is much more saved than online wallets.

Yes you can actually store bitcoins in your computer. Before web wallet was out the primary wallets being used at the time bitcoin started in 2009 was actually a desktop wallet. You just download the software and there you go you can now store your bitcoins in your computer. But much more than that you can even store it even in your flask drive or hard drive how much more in your computer.

Thats not entirely true, you can import private key also to software wallets like electrum, multibit or bitcoin core.  You don't need to import paper wallet to online wallets.
Better to keep you coins offline, paper wallet is great but software wallets are second to best and third one are online wallets.

I would like to know about paper wallet. Because it is completely offline. But I have doubt, How to do transfers (Send and Recieve).

There are different kinds of wallets for different things. You can use a software or online wallet for everyday use like Electrum or blockchain if you are comfortable with less protection. If you want to store your Bitcoin for a longer period of time, then it is smarter to use a hardware wallet or maybe even a paper wallet.

Can you? Technically yes..

Should you? No.. especially since you are new. I would suggest you download an app like breadwallet or buy a hardware wallet like Trezor.

If you have a computer just for your BTC its pretty good solution for your BTC.  Password protect and put it away under the bed better than many solutions.  You can pick up laptop for mega cheap these days.
An even cheaper solution is to install a clean operative system in an usb, install a wallet in there and then only connect your usb when you need to do a transaction.

You can store on a computer but none of wallets is safe, they are vulnerable to hacks at different degrees. Saving on computer deserve caution on network connection and computer having fault

Of course you can, just download any bitcoin wallet like bitcoin core and transfer the bitcoin to your wallet on the computer, make sure you encrypt the wallet so people can not access it easily.
