That's $38 for a fee right now, I don't think that it should be displaying that as a required fee. That would be fucking insane. See if you can modify the transaction fee manually, and if you can't then there must be something up with whatever wallet you're using because there is no reason for that kind of fee to be applied to your transaction. Maybe a fee that was a thirty-th of that, but it shouldn't be asking for $40 for a $20 transaction.

right now mycelium is wanting about $22 off me for a high priority tx with 15 inputs. that fee is possible if he has a bunch of them.

i know perfectly well that i could get it all through for less than $1 right now by the sounds of it but mycelium won't allow that.

im trying to send a "small" amount of 0.00975429 btc which represents more than 20 dollars atm.
why the fuck is the fee that high that i must have the same amount again for fees?

are the fees correct?

It's unbelievable, it's like a robbery, a legal robbery, and you're helpless about what's going on. I have never met the same case. What is the purse you are using? I think you should quickly remove it.

your wallet decides the fee, not the network. if you have private keys then you can export them to another wallet with fee control.

it's also possible your tx is made up of tons of small transactions in which case it's always gonna cost. a 1000 btc transaction with one input costs less than 0.001 with two.

That fee is higher than it should be. Which wallet are you using?

Did you received a lot of dust payments? For example, multiple low payments from faucets? If so, that's probably the reason your wallet is suggesting you to pay that much in fees.
